Director of Infrastructure & Operations

Leicester (very flexible)

Up to 100k with 6.5k car

The Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations is responsible for technical management of IT infrastructure, operations, security and service management across the organisation.

Responsibilities include delivery of high availability, high performing infrastructure for ERP, WAN and LANs, and the critical area of cyber security. As a leader of and exemplar for IT Business Relationship management, the post holder ensures service management delivers the best possible BAU IT service and incident/problem management. Managing IT Service Operations includes ongoing contract and SLA management of third party SaaS providers.

The post holder must ensure our IT Infrastructure and Applications are developed and maintained to be reliable, secure, cost efficient, and strategically sound, reflecting business needs and best practice in creating value for the company and our customers.

Leadership

• Operational management of IT Operations, Network and Telephony, Servers and Data Centres, IT Security, IT Service Management.
• Line management of Infrastructure, Security Teams, Service Desk, System Administration.
• Support the design of technology and digital strategies and lead on the delivery of I&O roadmaps, ensuring they align with our Strategic Plan.
• Develop and sustain trusting and credible relationships with internal stakeholders
• Take ownership and leadership of infrastructure changes and developments to keep in line with best practice, performance enhancements and security to support all new services including acquisitions.
• Lead and manage Project Teams and external resources
• Lead and manage the development of an efficient and progressive enterprise architecture

Operations

• Manage the teams to deliver roadmaps for Infrastructure, Operations and Security, ensuring alignment with technical and business objectives.
• Ownership and leadership of Network, Server and Storage technology within the IT Infrastructure Team.
• Development, testing and maintenance of Network, Server and Storage Infrastructure including configurations, documentation and reporting.
• Liaise with appropriate IT functions to develop the infrastructure to support all current and future projects.
• Ensure the infrastructure is fully documented and backed up and the current design is continuously reviewed to ensure future changes and developments are included.
• Develop and maintain a monitoring system to quickly identify and issues.
• Provide outstanding customer support to the business.
• Assist in the development of SLAs and manage the infrastructure to ensure it meets all agreed internal SLAs.
• Develop and maintain effective information security processes and systems, to protect the company’s data and assets.
• Lead on cyber security and ensure the company continuously improves its cyber security position including external certifications and accreditations as needed.

Service

To organise and implement servicing and support of IT systems and applications to agreed service level standards. In particular:

• To ensure training is provided on any new information management tools that may be introduced
• To monitor take up and use by colleagues and stakeholders
• To provide remedial support where necessary
• To work in partnership with the Head of Communications to ensure that they have the tools required to manage the business’s digital communication channels
• Champion continuous service improvement by monitoring KPIs and following through on action plans.
• Protection of IT production services through control mechanism for the implementation of new solutions.

Management

• To line manage and develop the Infrastructure & Operations team, working with them to plan and prioritise their workloads, set objectives, conduct appraisals and supported to continually improve their performance and results
• Lead, develop, coach and mentor the IT teams to build knowledge and skills such as security.
• Ensure the Infrastructure & Operations Team has the capabilities and resource to support current and emerging business requirements.
