Position Summary
The Information Technology Department is seeking a Director of Infrastructure to join the Core Technology Services team. This individual is responsible for the infrastructure that supports all facets of USF’s technology platforms. This position will play a key role in facilitating the organization’s rapid growth by ensuring users and patients can reliably access resources when they need them.
We have an immediate opening for a full-time Director of Infrastructure to join our team. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
Our current opportunity is based in Rockville, MD or Remote and reports to the VP, Strategic Technical Services.
How You'll Contribute:
- Overseeing day-to-day management of a highly skilled team of network engineers and system administrators making sure they have what they need to keep work moving
- Work with the internal and external stakeholders to help define priorities and manage work intake
- Facilitate discussions across the disparate teams making sure communication is flowing in all directions – no one likes surprises
- Technical escalation point for production issues
- Capacity Management and budget planning to ensure infrastructure is in place to meet the needs of the business
- Prioritizing multiple work streams simultaneously and still meet project deadlines
- Being comfortable in front of a whiteboard, marker in hand – you will be pitching ideas and solutions to complex problems, leading brainstorming sessions
- Thinking critically to solve complex issues both with a team as well as independently
- Capturing metrics to help make decisions based on the data.
- Creating detailed Documentation, pictures or it didn’t happen
- Customer service skills second to none

What You'll Bring:
- A bachelor’s, or higher, degree in a technical field
- 5 Years of experience managing a team of infrastructure engineers
- 10 Years of experience supporting infrastructure running production workloads
- 10 Years of experience working within AWS and Azure cloud environments
- 10 Years of experience supporting large scale networks and data centers.
- 10 Years of Experience working in a change-controlled environment – cowboys are for the wild west, professionals plan their work, keep to schedules, and react quickly when needed
- Able to work scheduled and on-call rotations (rotation will include weekends and holidays)
Other Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IAC)
- ITIL Foundations v3 certification or higher
