Director of Product Operations
Overview:Guidepoint seeks an experienced Director of Technology Operations as an integral member of the new Toronto Technology Hub. This Hub will serve as the base of our new Data/AI team, dedicated to building a modern data infrastructure for advanced analytics and the development of responsible AI. This strategic investment is integral to Guidepoint’s vision for the future, aiming to develop cutting-edge Generative AI and analytical capabilities that will underpin Guidepoint’s Next-Gen research enablement platform and data products.As the Director of Technology Operations, your primary responsibility will be ensuring the seamless strategic planning and agile delivery of product and engineering initiatives from inception to launch, in close collaboration with cross functional global teams. Leading a small but mighty dedicated team, you will drive efforts to boost operational efficiency and agile delivery that empowers Product, UX, and Eng to focus on solving problems for our customers in service of our high level product strategy. You will be a strategic leader in our extended Product, Engineering and IT organization and shape how we collaborate across functions and with partner organizations such as Client Services, Marketing, Finance, Legal and Sales. As Guidepoint works to achieve its mission of making individuals, businesses, and the world smarter through personalized knowledge-sharing solutions, the engineering team is taking on challenges to improve our internal application architecture and create new AI-enabled products to optimize the seamless delivery of our services across the globe.You Will: Build a strong foundation of collaboration and partnership with cross functional leaders and stakeholders.Streamline, standardize and coordinate our product release and agile delivery process in partnership with Product and Engineering teams.Partner with Product, UX, and Engineering leaders to oversee and continuously improve our rhythms of business including weekly and quarterly business reviews, quarterly planning, and metrics reviews.Act as PMO for specific large, cross-team strategic initiatives, optimizing dependencies, clearing blockers, communicating and managing stakeholder expectations. Improve the way we communicate across and between product, engineering, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment and clarity of roles and responsibilities leveraging the OKR process.Manage and develop tools and best practices that support product design and development activities like agile metrics, release tracking and product roadmaps.Liaise with Finance on budget tracking, vendor invoices and contractor management.Liaise with HR for goal-setting to help teams improve how they determine and define ambitious goals and track their outcomes with measurable results.Recommend and develop training programs and materials to onboard new tech team members, communicate best practices and drive process improvements.Act as a trusted advisor to CTO and thought partner to leadership across the Product, UX and Engineering organization, supporting informed decisions and aligned direction. You Have: 8+ years of experience in Product and/or Engineering Operations, with at least 3 years in a people leadership role.Bachelor’s degree.Experience being the direct owner and driver of product planning, tracking, and agile delivery processes.Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of working effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.Excellent leadership and persuasion skills and the ability to lead without direct authority.Deep understanding of the needs of different stakeholders in a Prod/Eng/IT organization, from executive leadership to ICs.Proven track record of measurable process improvement and operational efficiency.Proven track record of identifying and mitigating operational risks that may impact product delivery timelines and quality. Ability to proactively address issues and bottlenecks.Radical simplification and go-getter mindset.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data and insights to inform strategies.Proven ability to facilitate strategic prioritization and bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring plans translate into effective actions.A customer-centric approach, with a focus on delivering exceptional value and experience through product offerings.Track record of making difficult decisions and tradeoffs in the face of ambiguity and incomplete data.
