Reporting to the VP, Projects and Engineering, The Director, Projects & Engineering will be key in managing projects, technical and engineering activities and supporting project business case development for projects under the management accountability of the Coeur Chicago Projects group. The role works in close consultation with all project stakeholders and levels of management to ensure that standards of project management, project controls, technical compliance, quality, cost, safety, sustainability and environmental performance are observed, and corporate strategies for innovation are embedded into project work plans and executed accordingly to deliver required project technical, quality and process performance outcomes.

Please note, this role can be based in our Chicago office, or remotely with travel to our operations as required (approx. 30-50%)

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a consistent application of project management methodology and guidelines for all domestic and international projects
  • Develop and implement a series of key project deliverables through the use of KPI’s, scorecards and dashboards that will be reported to Executive Management
  • Ensure health and safety principles are incorporated into project management scope to reduce/eliminate control risks
  • Lead the development of the project execution strategy and project execution plan, budget, schedule, and funding
  • Lead project governance reporting and presentations to Coeur operations and senior leadership
  • Monitoring quality, progress and performance of internal and external technical resources providing leadership, guidance, input and support as necessary
  • Maintaining the consistent quality of output of the Engineering technical team and consultants/contractors, including alignment with the needs of the Company, regulatory and contractual requirements
  • Lead and manage multi-discipline internal and external consultants and contractors including technical and engineering resources assigned to allocated tasks to achieve project objectives and required outcomes
  • Ensuring health, safety, engineering and sustainability, innovation, and other corporate strategy technical initiatives are embedded in our project and study pipeline
  • Consistently providing engineering designs and solutions within agreed milestone dates and to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism
  • Leading proactive technical engagement with internal and external stakeholders and organizations at all levels
  • Career development of internal technical and engineering resources within the business
  • Manage contractor and vendor strategy, selection and RFP selection and approval process
  • Manage studies and projects through all stages of the project life cycle from initiation through to project close out
  • Set up project cross functional owners team for all phases of the projects within assigned projects from Coeur’s portfolio
  • Generate and maintain a database updating cost estimates for projects in collaboration with the Finance team
  • Liaise with operational readiness, commissioning teams assigned to support Coeur major projects
  • Support the development and sustainable and reliable execution of engineering and project management planning and controls to improve Coeur project performance
  • Liaise with Coeur senior and executive leadership to advance the Coeur business case and strategy for project development and innovation on assigned projects
  • Manage internal and external project stakeholder relationships to move the projects through various development stages, implementation and handover
  • Work closely with business development and operations to identify opportunities to enhance Coeur’s strategic portfolio
  • Manage and contribute to due diligence studies by supporting technical and economic evaluations of new business opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business required. MBA but not required.
  • Approximately 10-15 years of international capital project management, engineering design and construction management experience in the mining and minerals processing industry (oil and gas, chemicals, heavy industrial industries acceptable also) required.
  • Experience with operations, projects and studies, technology implementation in the mining, Minerals Processing industry .
  • Strong project operational experience including engineering, procurement, construction, contracts, quality, and project controls
  • Strong leadership experience included the ability to mentor and coach required attributes of internal and external team members

The salary range offered for this role is USD $170,000-$180,000 range. The salary range is a good-faith estimate. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Coeur Mining will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Coeur Mining.
