SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Director of Purchasing leads the sourcing and purchasing of goods and services for Leed Electric, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality, develops and implements purchasing strategies, manages supplier relationships, and negotiates contracts. The Director plays a key role in optimizing supply chain operations and maximizing cost efficiencies. Importantly, this role is also responsible for the leadership of the function and its people. This position reports directly to the CFO.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the Procurement process for equipment, services, materials, and supplies ensuring that all purchases meet the organization’s needs and budgetary goals.
- Develop and communicate procurement strategic/business plan; establish, communicate and implement long-term goals for the department to promote effectiveness and efficiency.
- Develop and implement effective purchasing and contract policies and procedures to streamline procurement activities and enhance efficiency.
- Provide expert guidance and support to the Procurement team to achieve departmental and individual goals. Develop, communicate and administer procurement team performance and development plans and appraisals.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for the organization to understand procurement needs and requirements, address procurement-related inquiries, provide policy and procedure interpretation and ensure alignment by all departments.
- Oversee the negotiation, review, and management of contracts to secure favorable terms and conditions, ensuring that all agreements comply with legal, regulatory, ethical and policy requirements.
- Conduct thorough financial and administrative analyses to support purchasing decisions and improve centralized service functions.
- Identify and evaluate potential vendors/suppliers and build/maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
- Evaluate sourcing, bid and order documentation (requisitions, change orders, quotes).
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings, implementing best practices in procurement and contract management.
- Maintain updated knowledge of market status and current rates for goods and services.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical abilities
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools
- Deep understanding of supply chain management principles
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinking and decision-making abilities
- Knowledge of contract law and vendor management
- Leadership and team management skills
- At least 10 years of dedicated purchasing experience
- Construction and/or Electrical Industry knowledge/experience
- Sage CRE 300, Procore, Excel and Kojo software experience a plus
SALARY RANGE: $120,000 - $160,000 annual salary
