The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Director of Civil Infrastructure to assist in leading our engineering team. This position is based out of our New York, NY office. You will serve a key function in leading the management and technical oversight of a broad range of projects for our municipal clients. Also, you will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of our communities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to professional and technical staff on a range of projects that deliver high standard outcomes for AKRF clients
- Be involved in regular client interfacing, business development and winning work
- Effectively apply a depth of management and technical knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to the role
- Develop, maintain and retain the highest standard of professional and technical skills
- Keep abreast of current industry issues and best practice to enable continual alignment and improvement
- Act as a technical expert in the related discipline field to develop and share knowledge with other employees and build the teams level of expertise
- Work collaboratively to develop and introduce new ideas and innovations to deliver projects
- Use skills and strategies to successfully influence high impact, high risk and complex situations
- Be an attentive and active listener who commands attention and can manage group process during presentations
- Lead project communication and coordinate directly with clients and other engineers and consultants to grow client relationships
- Lead/Support teams in the marketing and proposal phases of infrastructure projects
- Manage local staff and assist with career development, hiring, staff retention, and workload planning
- Lead/Manage the design and production of plans/specifications/deliverables for roadway, water, sewer, stormwater and other infrastructure projects; and
- Manage project schedules and budgets.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
- 15+ years of experience
- NYS PE required
- Experience in managing multiple projects and overseeing project delivery of junior to mid-level staff
- Experience with delivering design projects for NYC Department of Design and Construction and/or NYC Department of Transportation is essential
- Extensive experience with infrastructure design projects that involve roadway, utility relocation, water, sewer, stormwater management, and maintenance and protection of traffic (MPT)
- Ability to manage both technical and financial elements of a project
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to mentor staff and support growth of the team
- Superior attention to detail and organizational ability
- Ability to manage and meet multiple deadlines.
Compensation will range from $150K - $220K, and commensurate with experience.
