Position Overview The Director of Wind Development reports to the Senior Vice President of Development and is considered a leadership role within the organization. While the key areas of responsibility listed below are comprehensive, day-to-day project development tasks will primarily be pursued by Project Developers at the Director’s direction.
The team also houses a number of other dedicated departments that support project development efforts, including Real Estate, Legal, Interconnection, Finance Modeling, Off-Take/Origination, M&A Evaluation, Greenfield Efforts, Accounting, Resource Assessment, and Engineering.
The Director will facilitate collaboration between their team of Project Developers and these other support teams to pursue project development goals and milestones. Essential Responsibilities.
Responsible for concurrent advancement of full utility scale Wind Development portfolio • Direct development efforts of Wind projects across all development pillars bringing portfolio from early to late-stage • Responsible for management and maintenance of development budgets and task schedules for full Wind development portfolio.
• Manage team of Sr./Jr.-level Project Developers assigned to portfolio wind projects. This role currently manages 4 direct reports. • Drive project advancement, providing direction to Project Developer positions, and managing outside contractor deliverables • Able to critically prospect, adequately screen, and evaluate viability of new project opportunities.
• Provide guidance and effectively collaborate with Business Development team in off-take/PPA efforts • Active participation in M&A negotiation, diligence and project investment activities • Ability to effectively present project plans and progress updates to management team and project partners.
• Reporting status of project milestones and progress towards quarterly/annual KPIs •
• 6+ years of experience developing Wind Energy projects through the entire development cycle from project creation through full construction Notice to Proceed within the United States (preferably in diverse markets) The role will require detailed working knowledge of all development disciplines and success strategies. Key areas of established working experience are: • Preliminary project screening and diligence
• Project economics and financial modelling • Screening and application procedures for utility-scale/transmission-level interconnections in at least two unique markets.
-Full-cycle site control strategy and execution • Detailed facilities planning and layout • Development and successful execution of environmental diligence and mitigation strategies.

• Basic understanding of industry accepted resource assessment campaigns • Development budgeting and project execution scheduling (project management) This candidate has a comprehensive knowledge-base in workflow/project management systems such as Smartsheet (which is ideal) or Microsoft Projects, proficiency in the full Microsoft suite and functional competency of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
