General Position Description:
Oversee all aspects of motor vehicle fleet, working directly with on-site drivers and truck fleet. DOT Safety
and Compliance will lead and oversee the Fleet program warehouse and sister companies providing,
knowledge and guidance to the team members and assist them in Fleet Safety, Regulatory compliance and
Training efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
DOT Compliance & Supervision:
• Maintain all DOT Driver Qualification files in compliance with USDOT regulations.
• Oversee electronic logging system including driver setup, Hours of Service and DVIR reviews.
• Oversee DOT mandated drug and alcohol testing.
• Report and Investigate company accidents according to USDOT.
• Oversee mileage reports (IFTA and non IFTA)
• Maintain vehicle fleet health by scheduling units for service and repairs.
• Ensure vehicles are being maintained and document repairs/inspections in compliance with USDOT
regulations.
• Maintain motor vehicle fleet administration files.
• Have knowledge of policy and procedures and be able to testify in court proceedings.
Fleet Administration:
• Oversee motor vehicle fleet.
• Oversee motor vehicle fleet registrations, insurance and inspections.
• Oversee leasing vendor programs with approval from Headquarters.
• Oversee vehicle recalls and vehicle accident claims process.
• Submit fleet related invoices to Houston Headquarters for review.
• Provide various fleet information to finance department for tax purposes, etc.
• Oversee accident-related matter and file organization.
Training and Development:
• Conduct reviews of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
• Oversee training material on internal policies and external requirements for compliance.
• Schedule and facilitate refresher training and updates to DOT rules and regulations as needed.
• Provide driver corrective action and produce disciplinary documentation along with recommendations
for review by Houston Headquarters.
• Be able to instruct drivers and fellow DOT Assistant in a classroom setting as needed.
