Draftsman / Project Manager for Custom Fabrication Shop Responsibilities:
- Create precise 3D CAD models, 2D shop drawing packages, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using SolidWorks or SolidEdge.
- Oversee the project management of all jobs through the shop, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Apply extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including metal processing (cutting and forming) and welding.
- Collaborate daily with shop floor management, sales teams, upper management, and customers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Utilize ERP and CRM software to track project progress and improve efficiency.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment by managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Communicate effectively with a strong team-oriented mentality, ensuring customer satisfaction and project success.
Required Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in a related field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, Manufacturing Technology)
*Relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
Drafting Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in 3D modeling, creating BOMs, and 2D shop drawing packages.
Strong working knowledge of metal fabrication processes, including welding and machining.
Project Management Experience: Proven ability to manage projects through all stages, including budgeting, scheduling, and team collaboration.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidEdge, or similar design tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative "team-first" attitude are essential!
Qualifications
Experience using ERP or CRM software for project management.
Background in aerospace or defense manufacturing, particularly with industry standards such as AS9100 or FAA regulations.
Fabrication Experience: At least 2 years, including exposure to sheet metal processing and welding techniques.
Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and blueprint interpretation.
Familiarity with materials such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel used in aerospace fabrication.
