Draughtsman Lead
Overview:
The Draughtsman Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing drafting activities, ensuring the creation of high-quality technical drawings and documentation for various engineering projects.
This role involves leading a team of draughtsmen, coordinating with design engineers, and maintaining drafting standards to support project requirements in the oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities:

Lead and supervise the drafting team, ensuring the timely delivery of accurate drawings and documentation.

Coordinate with design engineers and project teams to understand project specifications and requirements.

Review and approve drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project guidelines.

Maintain and update drafting standards, procedures, and best practices.

Manage workload distribution among draughtsmen to ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to project schedules.

Train and mentor junior draughtsmen, providing guidance on technical skills and drafting software.

Participate in design review meetings, providing input on drawing feasibility and potential improvements.

Ensure all drawings are archived and maintained according to project documentation requirements.
Education:

Diploma or certification in Drafting, Engineering Design, or a related field.
Certifications / Specialization / IT Skills:

Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and other relevant drafting software.

Familiarity with 3D modeling tools (e.g., PDMS, E3D, SP3D) is an advantage.
Years of Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of drafting experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
Technical Knowledge:

Technical Drawing Expertise: Extensive experience in creating and reviewing technical drawings for various engineering disciplines, including structural, piping, and electrical.

Standards and Compliance: Strong knowledge of drafting standards, symbols, and industry codes relevant to the oil and gas sector.
