Requirements:
Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Fifteen+ (15+) years of experience working as an Electrical/Electronics Engineer in development, design, and prototyping requirementsOR fifteen + (15+) years of experience working as a Computer Engineer in development, design, and prototyping requirements
Demonstrated expertise developing, testing, and supporting various digital signal processing and Radio Frequency (RF) applications such as antenna design, RF path analysis, Software Defined Radio (SDR) applications, low noise amplifier, mixers, turner evaluations, receiver, transmitter, digital filtering, analog filtering, and analog and digital signal modifications
Demonstrated experience programming and configured one of more of the following:Microcontrollers
Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)
System on a Chip (SoC)
Platform on a Module (PoM)
Single board computers such as VME, VPX, and PXI
Experience designing and developing one of more of the following:RF Cable Assemblies
Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs)
Demonstrated experience creating Technical Data Packages (TDPs) for RF and Electrical applications
Experience designing and developing power-based hardware solutions to solve and optimize different voltage and current requirements
Possess a current DoD Secret security clearance
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and communication skill
Desired Skills:
Experience developing RF components in lab and shipboard environments
Proficiency in the one or more of the following toolsets:Modeling Software: MATLAB, SimuLink, MathCAD
Radar Signal and Data Processing Toolsets
Experience in one of more of the following:Threat System Analysis
Model development to match intelligence assessments, including waveform scheduling, correlation/tracking and signal processing
RF signals processing
RF algorithms/logic
System performance assessments of major subsystems including but not limited to phased array antennas, transmitters and receivers, RF signal processors and computer algorithms/logic
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of power systems, to include fuse panels, disconnect switches, ground fault indicators, transformers, power junction boxes, cables, connectors, connector plates, stuffing tubes, and feed-thru connectors
Ten (10) years of experience supporting DoD or Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Programs
Experience with root cause analysis of RF systems and interoperability
Knowledge of sensor signal processing, signal detection, probability - statistics
Experience integrating sensor, shooter, and command and control systems
Knowledge of sensor array processing methods, antennas, and propagation
Demonstrated experience leading and supervising junior RF Engineers
Thorough understanding of NSWC operations
Description:
Identifies, defines, and solves complex technical problems related to RF systems requirements, design, development, integration, testing and/or fielding which require a high level of ingenuity and innovation
Designs and develops RF distribution components, antennas, and feedlines in accordance with specifications and engineering standards for installation
Designs, develops, tests, and supports various digital signal processing and radio frequency applications, such as antenna design, RF path analysis, Software Defined Radio (SDR) applications, low noise amplifier, mixers, turner evaluations, receiver, transmitter, digital filtering, analog filtering, and analog and digital signal modifications
Supports firmware and hardware development for embedded system design for microcontrollers, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA-s), System on a Chip (SoC), Platform on a Module (PoM), and single board computers (VME, VPX, PXI, etc.)
Designs and documents cable assemblies, to include cable lists; fabrication details; material specifications; wire pinouts; length; unique wire number identification; termination points; signal type(s); assembly weight; low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) status; cable label details; and build, inspection, packing and shipping instructions
Designs and develops printed circuit boards (PCB) and circuit card assemblies (CCA) based on IPC industry standards
Develops solutions for obsolete components or systems that are end of life (EOL) or otherwise require updates and upgrades
Provides reverse engineering support for obsolete components
Develops and delivers complex technical presentations related to RF systems to high-level program management and customers
Performs extensive research and complex analysis on a major project to enhance the technical and economic development of the product and/or service. Completed reports or studies may be deliverable engineering products to the customer; this includes providing theoretical expertise in one or more of the following areas:Radio wave propagation
Digital signal processing
RF and/or digital hardware design and integration
Threat RF systems exploitation
Communications theory
Waveform development and modeling
Electronic Warfare systems
Provides functional and technical guidance to engineers
