PART I: Job Summary

Looking for controls engineer to fabricate industrial PLC based machine controls for our welding automation. Candidate must be able to work on new work and trouble shoot customer legacy products returned for repair. Under supervision of the Engineering Manger performs electrical design of controls and power distribution for welding automation. Develops control requirements and machine functions, documents schematics/processes. Write and tests PLC and HMI programs. Designs, tests and troubleshoots. Performs test of controls and final machine check out prior to shipping. Demonstrates creativity and innovation in solving problems and can work independently.

 

PART II: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following are the specific job responsibilities.

· Collaborate on control concepts with the engineering manager for the development of new products.

· Design control schematic and BOM

· Develop PLC/HMI programs and install control systems on welding automation.

· Configure BOM for new controls systems including time estimates for control build and machine installation. Complete machine documentation, final schematic and edits BOM as needed.

· Develop back plate panel layout for control configurations, work with engineering to document layout.

· Able to design and troubleshoot relay logic and circuit board-based controls.

· Fabricate final control system, HMI, and operator pendants.

· Test control, debug and participate in run off with customers when required.

· Support legacy equipment through in house repair, customer phone support and trouble shooting

 

PART III: Education Experience

This role minimally requires a certificate in Automation Control and Interface and Industrial PLC’s. Ideally the candidate will have an associate degree in Electrical Systems Technology. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years related experience while recent graduates will be considered. Incumbents must demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and be goal driven and results oriented. Must be able to perform work requiring electronic and mechanical theories and principles. A strong customer focus is a must as this position will represent the company when directly interacting with customers. Occasional travel is required for machine installation, may include international.
