Responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Controls Engineer to become a member of our design team. The applicant will be motivated by challenging applications, have tremendous attention to detail, is able to work well in cross-functional teams, and seeks to apply their design skills for solving and implementing our client’s automation problems.
- Will design and install controls systems to be integrated with automated equipment or test stands of intermediate to high complexity.
- Generally, the same individual is responsible for all aspects of automation for assigned project (ability to work independently is a plus).
- Tasks may include: Project Management, Controls System Design, Hardware Design, PLC Design, Operator Interface Design, Start Up, Installation, Service Support.
- Will generate electrical schematics for control systems in drafting software.
- Will develop custom programs and configurations for all projects.
- Will develop, recommend, specify, and test new features for next products.
- Will support and troubleshooting of automated systems, PLC programs, HMIs and vision systems.
- Ability to install panel components, wiring, cabling, sensors, and other discrete devices as needed (hands-on experience is a plus)
- Ability to understand and specify pneumatic components for basic operations.
- Ability to prepare concise technical documentation related to automation functionality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering or Scientific). Consideration will be given to applicants in the Electrical Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology fields. Equivalent experience will be considered.
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in controls engineering.
- A thorough knowledge of automation concepts, hardware, control panel design (up to 480VAC) and application of appropriate automation technology is required.
- Ability to create full electrical schematic drawing packages using Draftsight or other drafting software.
- Specification of hardware, including power distribution, controls hardware, sensors, PLCs, communications, safety relays, and signaling.
- Rockwell Automation PLC programming and troubleshooting for Studio 5000 and RS Logix 500.
- Rockwell FactoryTalk View Machine Edition HMI programming (or equivalent).
- Development of bills of material.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Servo control, stepper motion, linear motion, robotic skill is a plus.
- Cognex Insight Programming and Cognex VisionPro programming and integration experience is a plus.
- Visual Basic Scripting for machine vision programming or equivalent programming skill is a plus.
- Exposure to FDA regulated environments including validation experience is a plus.
- Basic understanding of 21 CFR Part 11, GAMP 5, and other regulatory guidance associated with computer/automation-based systems is a plus.

The actual salary is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, market demand, and competitive market practice. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
$80,000-$110,000
