As they continue to grow their Building Services design team, they have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Design Engineer to support and develop their project delivery capabilities. Project work will vary across a range of sectors including life sciences, defence, education, commercial, residential, renewable energy, industrial, retail, healthcare and leisure.

About the role
You will support the technical delivery of projects through their full life-cycle. You will instruct, supervise, and mentor junior staff in the design and management of schemes and work with clients to ensure delivery of projects to time and cost, and to help manage change. You will be supported by the senior technical leadership team throughout the delivery of your projects.
You will be responsible for undertaking calculations, production of drawings, producing specifications and reports, conducting site surveys, conducting construction stage duties, providing client liaison, consulting with members of design/construction teams and any other relevant duties required to comply with project briefs.
Key responsibilities will include:
Conducting electrical services designs across a range of sectors from concept through to completion.
Produce detailed design calculations to support designs.
Produce reports, plant schedule and specifications of all aspects of electrical building services.
Production of design drawings.
Conduct site surveys to establish condition and operation status of existing installations.
Ensure compliance with all aspects of construction health and safety regulations.
Mentoring and performance development responsibility for assigned staff.
About you
The successful candidate will have design experience across similar sectors and a good understanding of design experience working through all RIBA stages 1-4.
You will have the passion and drive to deliver projects in accordance with the client’s brief and programme and will help to develop good client relationships. You should be capable of managing your own workload, working across multiple projects and working to time allocations.
Experience of using Autodesk Revit MEP and AutoCAD to generate design deliverables would be beneficial. Where required, further training in Revit and other systems will be provided.
Suitable candidates should be able to demonstrate:
The skill set and passion for engineering with the ability to deliver electrical building services engineering designs across a wide range of sectors.
Ideally you will have an accredited Building Services /Electrical Engineering ONC/HNC or Degree.
Post graduate experience in the design of electrical services.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative with the confidence to make decisions.
Aspirations to pursue career to a senior level and work towards achieving Chartership.
Knowledge and experience in a range of digital tools including AutoCAD, AutoDesk Revit, Relux, Dialux, Amtech, NBS and Microsoft packages.
Able to develop designs conscious of energy conservation, sustainability and with a knowledge basis of renewable technologies.
Have a good knowledge of appropriate technical standards and legislation.
Strong communication and people skills.
Strong report writing skills.
Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners.
