About This Opportunity

FPA is seeking an Electrical Designer at our Wall Township, New Jersey office. The ideal candidate will have up to 5 years’ experience in designing and specifying electrical systems for substations, power distribution, short circuit studies, grounding & lightning protection, lighting, security systems, life safety & fire alarm, calculations and specifications for the commercial and education sectors.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist other Senior Staff Engineers, Project Engineers, Project Managers with engineering tasks needed to plan, design, and provide engineering services during construction for various types of infrastructure projects, with focus on utilities.
  • Under supervision of Project Engineers and Project Managers, evaluate and adjust engineering reports, perform due-diligence and condition assessments on existing water and sewer systems as well as other types of infrastructure.
  • Assist with preparation of construction documents, including plans and specification, and editing various types of engineering reports.
  • Under supervision, perform field work to document existing conditions, dimensions and gather other relevant information needed for design.
  • Perform construction administration services including shop drawings reviews and construction inspection from time to time for infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines required to deliver successful projects and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Regional and occasional out-of-state travel may be required.
  • May be asked to work additional and/or non-standard office hours, as required.

What We Are Looking For
Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MEP & REVIT or other computer-related drafting software is also required. Previous experience in performing surveys of existing building electrical systems.
