The Electrical Engineer II is a leadership and task based role within Fortna’s Electrical Engineering team, responsible for the design and documentation of electrical and pneumatic controls of Fortna’s Material Handling Systems (MHS). The ideal candidate has a background in Electrical Engineering / design and is experienced and/or capable of providing leadership to the Electrical Engineering project team and producing quality deliverables during project implementation. Leadership tasks shall be aligned with Fortna’s Integrated Design Methodology to ensure successful project implementation. Design tasks shall use standard design tools to provide high quality electrical designs in support of Clients’ MHS Needs.Responsibilities Leading medium scope and less complex projects through the detail design and implementation phase. This includes development of RFP/Supplier Selection requirements, electrical control panel phasing plans, Electrical Engineering work plans, and design approval packages. Providing electrical system input to Project Engineer during design review meetings to ensure electrical requirements are understood.Supporting Project Engineer during transition from Detailed Design to Final Engineering.Reviewing and providing Electrical Engineering input to Description of Operation (DOO) & Functional Specification (FSD) documentation.Facilitating project meetings as required by project cadence:Producing meeting agendasProviding meeting minutes to team membersProviding Electrical Engineering input to MHS implementation plan.Developing Electrical Engineering work plan to ensure successful project milestone achievements.Assisting Project Engineer during Speeds & Feeds review.Leading Controls Layout review meetings with internal teams and Client. Supporting Project Engineer to achieve design acceptance.Leading and directing support resources during development of project deliverables and ensuring deliverables meet Drawing Quality Control (DQC) requirements, including :Electrical device layout packageControl panel fabrication packageElectrical installation packagePneumatic layout and installation packageAs Built documentationUpdating project team on the current status of project:Compiling project status reportsAttending project update meetingsCompiling and communicating electrical Assumptions/Decisions/Risk/Actions (ADRA) itemsManaging electrical scope utilizing DOO and FSD.Escalating risks to Project Engineer and Engineering team.Leading electrical prototype efforts for less complex solutions, including development of prototyping plan and communication of scope.Conducting site visits to assist with installation and commissioning support activities.Attending Client meetings as required.Supporting development of lessons learned document.Following and providing input for improvement of DQC process.Supporting generation and enhancement of department standard documentation and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of the Engineering Group.Constantly working to expand knowledge of industry best practices and latest technology.Utilizing E-plan and Promis-e for drawings.Continuously working to solve Client needs.Proactively seeking work to maintain project utilization.Using current design practices for material handling systems.Adhering to all Fortna and department standards.Maintaining good design notes.Attending and/or performing company training as required.Being reliable; providing timely responses and consistent follow-up.Qualifications 4 year engineering degree from an accredited college with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or 2 year degree from an accredited college with 5-7 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma with 15 years of relevant experience in electrical design of complex automated material handling systemsConveyor control process experience (photoeyes, solenoids, variable frequency drive, line scanner, print and apply application)Knowledge of and ability to work with and manage multiple suppliersAbility to work effectively on a team and support high levels of performanceAdvanced collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal communication)Experience working with MS Project and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Experience in standard design of relevant material handling equipment for positionProficient in the use of E-Plan for electrical designFlexible and approachableAbility to self-motivateStrong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem solving skillsAbility to travel domestically and internationally in support of our projectsDESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience managing Engineering projects requiring collaboration between multiple Engineering work streamsExperience leading and directing support resources in Engineering design environmentUL, NEC, NFPA, OSHA design requirements480VAC motor control panel design experienceStrong comprehension of Profi, Ethernet IP, Ethercat network design and requirementsStrong leadership skillsStatement to Third Party Agencies - To ALL recruitment agencies: Fortna only accepts resumes from agencies on the Fortna preferred supplier list.
