Scope:
The ideal candidate will be part of the maintenance engineering team to help develop E&I best practices, standards, ensure NFPA compliance, provide infrastructure maintenance, and project development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Act as a safety advocate, placing the health and safety of employees as the top priority.
- Responsible for reporting safety incidents, ensuring standard operating procedures are up-to-date, work requests are entered, lockout tagout procedures are correct, etc.
- Ensuring and enforcing safety policies, safe working practices, quality, and production goals.
- Monitor, maintain, and improve power systems including uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and plant power distribution.
- Provide technical support for electrical and control systems including, but not limited to process control, distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), control networks, data acquisition (SCADA), instrumentation, valves, variable frequency drives, motor control centers (MCC), and panel boards.
- Assist with installing and programming equipment.
- Assist with training electricians and those that would like to be electricians in the future.
- In charge of maintaining the glove program to ensure we are in compliance with NFPA 70E guidelines.
- In charge of ordering the correct arc-rated PPE (such as arc suits, face shields,etc) for electricians.
- Serve as electrical project team member for capital projects for both electrical and mechanical improvements.
- Support the identification of standards and training needs for the organization, including NFPA and OSHA.
- Manage project files, record drawings, equipment records, and related project documentation.
- Perform duties assigned by E/I Superintendent.
- Provide support for electrical and mechanical crews, including hourly and salary.
- Participate in the maintenance weekend duty program.
Skills:
- Understanding of electrical power distribution, PLC’s, integrated DCS systems and networking, switchgears, motor controls, power systems, and various software systems.
- Ability to work effectively with all groups of people, including unionized work force.
- Able to provide technical and troubleshooting assistance when necessary.
- Candidate needs to have strong communication skills, (i.e., interpersonal, written and verbal)
- Able to work and communicate effectively and clearly during stressful situations.
- Desired computer skills are Microsoft Word & Excel, with CMMS and AutoCad experience.
- Self-directed and motivated to complete special projects.
- Able to multi-task efficiently under demanding circumstances.
- Organized, attention to detail, and able to manage numerous initiatives simultaneously.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or technical certifications.
