Job Description
Summary
Drive Engineering is currently seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer with 10 years of experience to work on various transportation industry projects. This individual will primarily perform varying tasks related to electrical design associated with deploying technology assets along roadways. Design elements include intelligent transportation devices (cameras, DMS, detection sensors), 5G, DSRC, traffic signals, and tolling equipment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Primary job responsibilities will include plan development, specification development, design calculations, field surveys, construction services, shop drawing review, and related technical writing for regional transportation projects in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Primary job responsibilities require candidates to:
Knowledge of 5G, DSRC, and RFID systems
Knowledge of CAV technology
NEC and other industry applicable codes and regulations
Experience with low and medium voltage design
Proficiency with wiring/electrical diagrams and calculations
Experience with Construction Plans development and cost estimating
Provide software and hardware installation support
Perform system test activities such as FAT, Commissioning, System, and Operation level tests
Conduct tests in compliance with company standards, project requirements, relevant test procedures, safety standards
Identify operational & technical problems & assist in developing practical solutions & improvements to system design when appropriate
Perform or assist in the installation and test of factory and field modifications
Assist in the installation an adjustment of various signaling equipment
Accurately complete test documentation, data sheets, marking plans
Interface with consultants and installation contractors
Must maintain highest regard for safety, system reliability, and system integrity
Performs other duties as assigned
Education and Requirements
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Department of Transportation (DOT) related projects
Professional Engineer (PE) required
Tolling industry experience desired
Highway Lighting Electrical Service experience desired
Competencies
Excellent technical skills and ability to analyze complex logic/systems

High proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Project, Visio, etc.)

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance
Work Environment
This job generally operates in an office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
