Where you’ll work
The position is based in any of our 12 offices in Illinois, Iowa or Wisconsin with a remote or hybrid work schedule for the right person . What you’ll do
As an Electrical Engineer, you will design portions of projects related to electrical systems according to code. You will research resources for commercially available equipment. And you'll help coordinate design and schedule with structural and mechanical engineers, technological experts and equipment suppliers. You will also:
- Review design methods, procedures and changes in scope with the lead engineer.
- Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow standard office procedures through a series of related detailed steps or processes.
- Work with clients and firm project managers to deliver projects with the highest quality – on time and on budget.
- Collaborate with and learn from fellow engineers, environmental scientists and project managers.
- Develop leadership skills that build autonomy.
What it takes
A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is key, and a professional engineering license is , but not required. You should have a minimum of ten years of experience designing and implementing electrical systems for industrial and/or municipal facilities. Experience should include:
- Medium voltage and 480-volt distribution.
- Motor control centers and variable frequency drives.
- Lighting systems.
- Instrumentation and control and supervisory control and data acquisition.
- On-site testing, system startup and troubleshooting.
- Electrical building systems design and/or knowledge of construction techniques is a plus.
Ideally, you will also:
- Be a team player, working across departments to support firm goals.
- Speak and write well.
- Have strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Think strategically, finding and implementing improvements for the betterment of the firm.
