TJC and Associates, Inc. is a multi-discipline engineering firm that specializes in electrical and structural design engineering services. Our core engineering service offering includes structural; instrumentation, control & electrical; and control systems programming. We primarily serve other engineering firms, public agencies, and businesses on projects consisting of water and wastewater treatment plants, reservoirs, and pump stations, chemical storage, and commercial buildings. Our Engineering Team is growing! 

We are seeking hardworking, bright, and creative minds to fill this engineering position. Working in this role provides an incredible and dynamic opportunity to learn from some of the top engineers in the area. You will work side by side with upper-level engineers in the preparation of plans, specifications, and reports by producing design calculations, performing technical analyses, and researching updated design standards. In addition, you will work in the field collecting technical data and information for analysis for electrical design tasks. Depending on your level of work experience you will also have the opportunity, under limited management oversight, to perform high-level electrical engineering tasks associated with the design and evaluation of complex electrical power for mechanical process equipment and building lighting for water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Alternate Office Location:  1111 Broadway, Suite 300 Oakland, CA 94607-4167

Status:  Full-time

Schedule:  Monday – Friday

  • Start/End times have some flexibility – we strive for an 8-hour workday!
  • Hybrid “Work from Home-Office” routine is a consideration after the initial training period.

Compensation:   $110,000 – $164,000 annually depending on experience

Primary responsibilities may include some or more of the following:

  • Assist with project planning, scoping, proposing, staffing, and coordinating the technical activities of the team, managing the budget, design, QA/QC, and production of moderately complex projects.  
  • Responsible for a specific element of a project or activity such as design of a single power system for a building or basin within a larger project.
  • Ensure that the overall engineering objectives are met, and that progress is communicated. When managing a project, resolve operational issues and coordinate technical day-to-day staff activities to keep project on schedule and within budget.
  • Participate in the evaluation of project staff performance and provide feedback.
  • Prepare intermediate to complex drawings, design calculations, estimates, specifications, and reports, performing technical analyses, and researching updated design standards. Collect technical data for analysis to perform electrical design tasks. 
  • Develop an understanding of all electrical codes and software used in the design of TJCAA client projects.  
  • Develop electrical design reports, calculations, and drawings for TJCAA client projects that incorporate current electrical design codes and standards, project specifications, and TJCAA standards. 
  • Interact with clients, contractors, and/or subcontractors to obtain technical data and information necessary for electrical designs, working with multidisciplinary engineering groups, such as mechanical, architectural, structural, control systems programmers, and civil. 
  • Prepare project deliverables using TJCAA standards and practices, while incorporating client requirements, all within specified timelines and quality control requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • 5 -12 years’ working experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from a four-year, accredited college or university. Provide name of college/university and year degree was obtained.
  • Master of Science Degree a plus!
  • Professional Engineer License (P.E.) in CA
  • Electrical engineering professional experience related to the design of power, lighting, and control systems for water and wastewater treatment structures and other facilities .
  • Must be a U.S. or qualified to work in U.S. without Employer Visa Assistance.
