We are an MEP + Structural design firm based in NJ that focuses design work on ultra-high end residential renovation and new construction projects in New York City, the Tri-State area, and sometimes farther reaching. We work with top tier architects on completely custom home designs. Our work entails the engineering of all systems in coordination with an architectural program ranging in size from apartments to estates.
Our office environment is casual, but the work is challenging and fast-paced. We engage in collaboration both within and outside the office to develop engineering designs of the highest quality for discerning clients. Our system designs must meet strict operational and acoustic performance criteria established at the onset of each project. Position Details:
Required Experience: Candidate Qualifications:
● ACAD and REVIT proficiency Electrical Engineer 1+ years engineering design with field experience
● Minimum 1 year experience in designing electrical systems for residential, commercial, retail, or institutional projects including: ○ Load & voltage drop calculations, equipment selection, wire sizing and distribution, drawing and detail development, grounding & bonding systems, emergency power systems etc…
● Experience with generator / backup power systems (battery, ICE, solar etc.) desirable
● Knowledge of lighting control systems desirable
● Excellent spoken and written English skills
● Must be experienced with Electrical Code versions for review and interpretation - a strong knowledge is desirable ○ Specific NYC Electrical Code experience a plus
● Self-motivated with an appetite for further education and personal growth
● Passion for elegance in system design
● Hands on / installation experience a plus
● Candidate must be comfortable interacting with architects, contractors, and other project consultants both in person and via remote means
● An ideal candidate will be ready to be an integral design member from project inception through complete construction and close-out
Job Responsibilities:
● Design comprehensive power plans of electrical power systems from service entrance to final circuitry
● Site survey of existing conditions at each project onset and coordinate / investigate riser pathways
● Determine the adequacy of existing services and equipment for the proposed project
● Coordinate power requirements with project team members: ○ Architects for receptacle plans, appliances or bespoke equipment ○ Mechanical Engineers for systems which include: air conditioning, heating, ventilation, humidification, dehumidification, boilers, chillers, VRF, domestic plumbing equipment, and fire protection sprinkler pumps. ○ AV / Lighting Designers for systems such as Lutron Homeworks, Crestron, AV racks etc. ○ Lightning Protection Consultants for downlead coordination and protection of interior systems ○ Pool Consultants for all equipment and life safety requirements (GFI protection, bonding etc.)
● Prepare calculations, design documentation, drawing layouts, riser diagrams, equipment selections, specifications and details
● Build internal capability for design of solar power and battery storage systems
● Prepare reports that might detail: ○ Evaluation of alternative systems ○ Evaluation of existing conditions ○ Construction progress
● Review of shop drawings and submittals against design intent ○ Interface with construction team via Procore for shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs
● Inspect installed conditions against design requirements
