SUMMARY
Electrical and Firmware Engineer assumes key role to develop or revise products from start to finish. Responsible for the
development of new and redesigned products that blend electrical, software, and mechanical components. Use client
requirements and established industry practices to design and develop new and revised products. Responsible for
creating all necessary documentation including drawings, assembly and maintenance procedures, and user instructions.
Responsible for collaborating with manufacturing to move new or revised products into production. In addition, maintain
current product lines by suggesting and implementing improvements to designs and manufacturing processes. In all
design capacities, the engineer is responsible for meeting established safety regulations and industry/government
standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Responsible for and performs engineering activities to launch successful new products, as well as update current
products, through the development of new or improved value-added functionality and performance, improved safety,
quality and reliability, and reduced cost that establishes a competitive advantage by employing new or improved
technology and components.
• Support sales activities that respond to customer and market needs by performing an analysis of customer or market
requirements and assessing the feasibility, manufacturability, and cost of solution(s).
• Work collaboratively with team and clients to determine the scope of new projects, design requirements, and
execution of the project.
• Printed circuit board (PCB) design and layout including analog and digital components/circuits.
• Recommend design concepts and validate the concept feasibility using circuit simulations.
• Prepare design documentation requirements specifications and PCB models.
• Perform PCB design testing and analyze test results.

• Evaluate a project’s firmware needs, design a firmware solution to meet project needs, develop and implement new
firmware (i.e., programming), debug firmware to ensure it functions properly, evaluate performance, and troubleshoot
as needed, incorporate client feedback into firmware revisions.
• Collaborate on mechanical design utilizing CAD tools and the manufacture of physical prototypes for testing and
performance evaluation.
• Collaborate with Suppliers and Production to facilitate a smooth, documented (drawings, work standards, manuals)
roll out of new or revised products.
• Drive continuous improvement culture by ensuring processes are aligned with customer requirements and support
effective collaboration with the production and quality teams to solve problems and make decisions.
• Support day-to-day production activities within the value stream(s) to ensure that current commitments are achieved.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but project leadership and process ownership is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• College degree required. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline highly preferred.
• 3+ years of experience product design experience involving a mix of electrical, software and mechanical design.
• Demonstrated success in the design, development, and production of new products.
• Proficiency with PCB Design and Simulation Software including Altium and SPICE.
• Proficiency in Firmware/Programming Development including STM32 ARM, Python, PLC, Labview, C++.
• Proficiency with mechanical CAD software; SOLIDWORKS preferred.
• Proficient in using basic engineering tool and common laboratory equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 or ISO 17025 Quality Management Systems and the ability to effectively communicate
company standards preferred.
• Must possess strong organization and project management skills.
• Familiarity with failure mitigation techniques and root cause analysis.
• Must be flexible, adaptable, hands-on, and open to handling a diverse set of responsibilities.
• Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with customers,
employees, and management.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft applications,
• Familiarity with Access and production database systems highly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read and interpret engineering CAD drawings, PCB layouts, and schematics.
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management, ideally has the polish to interact with customers
MATHEMATICS
• Ability to understand mathematics as it relates to Engineering
• Understand modeling and the use of mathematics to simulate and model electrical and physical systems. Experience
with PCB layout, simulation software, and CAD.
• Understand the measurement, conversions, scaling and tolerances as applied within engineering
• Ability to translate between English and programming languages, spreadsheets, and written equations
• Three-dimensional reasoning and analysis sufficient to design new systems and enclosures

• This position does not require any consistent travel; less than 10% of time spent in a customer or alternate location.
