Hoyle Tanner has a part-time opportunity for an Electrical Engineer who is PE certified and has worked within the civil engineering industry. This is a wonderful opportunity for a retired engineering professional. This position is project based, and you would be responsible for the design and implementation of electrical systems including airport electrical lighting, pump stations, bridge lighting and other miscellaneous infrastructure projects. Location: Manchester, NH

Manchester’s historic mill yard, our 30,000 square foot office space sits perched on the 5th floor of the original Amory Mill and is the home of our company’s headquarters. Remnants of the historic charm remain in various locations throughout the mill, while our space has been redesigned with modern lines and architectural accents.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Interface with sub-consultant electrical engineering firms and review submissions from partners
  • Develop scopes of services for sub-consultant partners
  • Perform fieldwork, as necessary, to investigate electrical components and systems for projects
  • Perform/ review design calculations for project components
  • Mentor team members on electrical engineering design considerations and electrical systems costs
  • Design and develop electrical systems for airport lighting, visual aids, and navigational aids, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safety requirements
  • Review and comment on electrical and instrumentation designs for wastewater treatment facility upgrade projects
  • Design and execute lighting solutions for bridges, taking into account aesthetic and functional considerations as well as code required lighting levels
  • Design and execute lighting solutions for alternative transportation projects including paths, intersections, and business entrances
  • Design electrical systems for land development projects considering aesthetics, future maintenance, operating costs, and service life expectancy
  • Participate in the design and development of electrical systems for other civil engineering projects as required
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, ensuring electrical systems are designed and implemented effectively
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure the proper installation and operation of electrical systems
  • Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into overall project designs
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications for electrical systems
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in electrical engineering to ensure the application of best practices
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop electrical systems opinions of cost for infrastructure improvement projects

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (MS in Electrical Engineering )
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of airport electrical lighting, water and wastewater treatment, lighting for land development (retail, residential, mixed-use) and bridge lighting
  • Strong knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
