Position: Electrical Estimator

Reports to: Electrical Sales Engineer

 

Purpose of the position

360 ELECTRICAL & ENGINEERING SERVICES LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Electrical Estimator to join our team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for developing precise and competitive cost estimates for a variety of electrical projects and services. This role involves interpreting and evaluating project specifications, technical documents, conducting site visits, preparing bids, and collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate project requirements and costs.

 

Essential Functions

· Review and interpret project specifications, data collected during walkthroughs, engineering drawings, and technical documents to determine cost estimates.

· Analyze engineering data and project requirements to provide accurate and competitive estimates.

· Conduct site visits, if needed, to assess project conditions, verify service requirements, and gather information for more accurate estimates.

· Develop accurate cost estimates for electrical services such as installations, repairs, maintenance, and upgrades, including labor, materials, and equipment.

· Prepare detailed and competitive bids and service proposals for clients, clearly outlining the scope of work, costs, and any terms and conditions.

· Estimate and plan for the allocation of resources, including manpower and equipment, required to deliver the electrical services efficiently.

· Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and quality materials.

· Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering, recommending alternatives or adjustments to reduce expenses without compromising quality.

· Work closely with project managers, engineers, and sales team to ensure accurate project scopes and to address any issues that arise.

· Conduct market research to stay informed about current pricing trends for materials and labor and incorporate this information into cost estimates.

· Establish and maintain estimating standards and procedures to ensure consistency and reliability in all service estimates.

Knowledge - Skills – Abilities

  • Deep understanding of electrical systems, installation procedures, maintenance, and repair techniques.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation methods and practices, including how to calculate labor, material, and equipment costs.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Ability to analyze data and project requirements to provide accurate estimates.
  • Attention to details when reviewing specifications, preparing estimates, and preparing proposals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively prepare bids, negotiate with suppliers, and collaborate with team members.
  • Ability to negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and quality materials.
  • Ability to identify and solve issues related to cost estimation, including recommending cost-saving measures and value engineering.
  • Capability to conduct site visits to assess conditions and verify service requirements for accurate estimates.
  • Familiarity with local, , and industry-specific codes and standards that impact electrical work.

Education and Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an electrical estimator or in a similar role within the electrical engineering or construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field ; equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel; strong mathematical and analytical abilities; thorough knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in estimating and reporting.
