If that sounds like a challenge you want to help tackle, we want you to join our team! Posting will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. ***will consider Sugar Grove, OH; Tinsley Park, IL; Thompson Station, TN; and Troy, MI for the right candidate***The opportunityThe US Natural Gas Pipeline General Plant Maintenance Capital (GPMC) Facilities Projects Engineering Execution team has a career opportunity available for an experienced and enthusiastic Electrical Engineer.Reporting to the Manager, this position is responsible for providing electrical engineering analysis and support to the US Natural Gas Pipeline sustainability and natural gas maintenance projects, and their stakeholders. The electrical engineer will review electrical power system and equipment drawings, evaluate contractor electrical design packages, interface with contracted Engineering design firms, and create or review guidance documentation, standards, specifications, processes, procedures or tools used for the execution of Engineering Work.Relevant experience with compression and measurement facilities station power distribution systems, NEC adherence, motor control centers (MCC), automatic transfer switches (ATS), main breakers, power factor correction capacitors (PFCC), conduit & cable tray evaluation and design, auxiliary power unit (APU) generators, hazardous area classification, grounding, arc flash studies, lighting, transformers and control panels (SCP, ESD & UCP) is highly desirable. Additional knowledge on Remote Terminal Units (RTU), Gas Chromatographs (GC), Gas Analyzers, variable frequency drives, motors and utility interface is beneficial.What you’ll doFollow and ensure compliance with TC Energy's Practice of Engineering (POE) in all assigned workAct in the best interest of TC Energy by interacting with internal technical groups and external engineering firms to evaluate and approve electrical design packagesProvide innovative engineering solutions to solve emergent technical issuesResponsible for the engineering work associated to maintenance projects in natural gas facilities, i.e. compressor stations, meter stations, storage fields, etc. with special focus on power, instrumentation and automation equipmentGather maintenance project ideas technical data in early stages of development to determine the best engineering approach for their implementationSchedule internal and third-party engineering resources to support assigned projectsCompile data associated to bidding documentation for the selection of third-party engineering firms, including the definition of the Engineering Deliverables tied to varied project typesReview third party engineering bid documents and proposals for contract awardingManage project specific engineering contracts including periodic interface and oversight of hired Engineering Service Providers (ESPs)Schedule design reviews, ensure proper stakeholder engagement during the design process and establish direction for the project overall design productParticipate in project design and HAZOP reviewsVerify facility load list calculations, as well as perform and/or review arc flash, relay coordination, and load studiesIdentify equipment design requirements and review equipment layouts and installationReview station’s ancillary systems performance to ensure operational reliabilityReview of third-party engineering firm design calculations, equipment vendor drawings, and material listsSizing verification and purchase specification for motor control centers, auxiliary power unit (APU) generators, transfer switches, variable frequency drives, cables, PCR buildings, switchgear, distribution panels, transformers, and other ancillary equipmentTrigger material procurement process for all items to be purchased by the CompanyReview project requisitions against company standards and specifications as applicable to project scopePerform quality assurance of construction drawings for the installation of subject electrical systemsProvide technical support throughout construction activities, including site visits and timely RFI ReponsesAnalyze and troubleshoot equipment during commissioningCoordinate efforts tied to project close out from an engineering perspective, i.e. redline review, as-building, equipment data gathering for the preventive maintenance system, etc.Participate in Root Cause Analyses, identify causal factors, and propose remedial actionsSolicit internal/external expertise for items outside of core technical capabilitiesLog process-related and technical items identified with room for improvementOther duties as required.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent degree with relevant experience4-6 or more of relevant progressive experienceExperience with engineering and project management software applications such as SAP, MicroSoft, Easypower and ETAPExperience with applicable industry codes and standards, especially NFPA 70 (NEC)Willingness to travel for work assignments as requiredPreferred QualificationsElectrical discipline design experience within the energy infrastructure industryProfessional Engineering (PE) licenseExcellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective business relationships to reach company objectivesDemonstrated ability to initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing work environmentKnowledge of electrical equipment installation testing methods and recommendationsExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to apply engineering principles, codes, and standards to identify issues, recommend improvements, and implement solutionsSelf-motivated and results-drivenStrong leadership skills with an aptitude for team buildingExcellent time management skillsPreference will be given to candidates with a technical aptitude combined with the ability to effectively prioritize conflicting tasks within a team environmentTo remain competitive, support our high-performance culture and allow for more flexibility in the way we work, we offer a hybrid work model and flexible dress code for our eligible office-based workforce in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. #LI-HybridAbout our businessTC Energy is a leading energy infrastructure company in North America.
