Major construction firm is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- Project Evaluation and Analysis: Comprehensive Review of Job Information: Thoroughly examine all pertinent data available through Building Connected or email correspondence. This includes but is not limited to drawings, schedules, specifications, building regulations, and any other bid-related documents.
- Systematic Organization of Data: Methodically categorize all downloaded information into a structured estimating folder, ensuring accessibility and clarity for subsequent analysis and reference as outline in the Estimating Procedure Manual.
- Coordination of Site Walk-throughs: Facilitate arrangements for comprehensive site walkthroughs as necessary, ensuring adequate representation. Oversee the completion of the walkthrough information template and review all accompanying notes and visual documentation. Collate pertinent details gathered during the walkthroughs to facilitate precise cost estimation processes.
- Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Blueprint and Technical Drawing Analysis: Conduct comprehensive scrutiny of project blueprints and technical drawings to meticulously identify electrical components, materials, and labor requisites. Ensure that all drawings undergo thorough review to ascertain accuracy and completeness.
- Preparation of Detailed Cost Estimates: Develop cost estimates for electrical projects encompassing materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor expenditures. Employ cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to facilitate precise projection of project expenses.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors: Obtain competitive pricing for major materials and equipment. Quotes from (3) suppliers should be leveled, by the estimator, for accuracy prior to the estimate review meeting.
- Management of Request for Information: Send detailed notice of request for information on unclear scope items. Keep all RFI requests, and answers, in the appropriate estimate folder.
- Adherence to Review Meetin Schedule: Ensure strict adherence to the schedule outlined in the Estimating Procedures Manual for all review meetings, facilitating efficient coordination and communication throughout the estimation process.
- Proposal Development and Bid Preparation: a. Proposals: Prepare professional and competitive bid proposals in response to client invitations to bid (ITBs) or requests for proposals (RFPs) using proposal template. All proposals should be dated and saved in the estimate folder. Furthermore, ensure that every new proposal or leveling sheet issued is accompanied by a corresponding estimate top sheet reflecting identical values.
- Compile Documentation: Gather all necessary documentation, including cost breakdowns, schedules, and qualifications, to support bid submissions. Review bid requirements and specifications to ensure compliance with client expectations and contractual obligations.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Risk: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs or schedules. Evaluate risk factors such as market conditions, material availability, and regulatory requirements. In the review, these impacts should be outlined and addressed by the estimator.
- Provide recommendations to project stakeholders on risk management and mitigation strategies.
- Value Engineering and Cost Optimization: VE: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost optimization to maximize project efficiency and profitability. Evaluate alternative materials, methods, and design options to achieve cost savings without sacrificing quality or performance.
- Continuously seek innovative approaches and best practices to improve cost estimation processes and techniques.
- Client Communication and Relationship Management: ClientLiaison: Assume the pivotal role of the primary point of contact for clients throughout the entirety of the bid and proposal process. Employ effective communication strategies to engage with clients, gaining comprehensive insights into their project requirements, preferences, and financial parameters. This proactive approach ensures a thorough understanding of client expectations, fostering productive and collaborative interactions.
- Responsive Support: Provide timely and accurate responsive inquiries and requests for additional breakdowns or scope clarifications. Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Documentation, Reporting & Professional Development:
- Maintain organized records of all bid documents, estimates, and correspondence related to each project.
- Generate project hands folder for all awarded bids as outlined in the Estimating manual.
