Electrical Reliability Engineer
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionEngineering role responsible for supporting electrical & instrumentation engineering standards as well as working to continuously improve the technical content of our bids, estimates, project construction packages, and maintenance programs. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESØ Evaluate system and component performance in their application.Ø Responsible for ensuring projects are compliant with all environmental and safety requirements.Ø Lead small capital reliability improvement projects from start to finish.Ø Develop QA/QC for critical electrical work.Ø Conducts electrical gap assessments primarily through periodic audits to gauge effectiveness of maintenance and reliability work processes.Ø Identify reliability opportunities, design improvements, and oversee implementation in coordination with Operations & Maintenance personnel.Ø Perform Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) reviews of critical or unreliable equipment.Ø Review Management of Change (MOC)'s and capital projects for reliability improvement opportunities.Ø Performs Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Failure Modes Effects Analyses (FMEA) of electrical components.Ø Promote an atmosphere of safety excellence through leading by example and interceding when necessary to correct behaviors.Ø Ensure that new electrical equipment is designed and installed for long-term reliability.Ø Operations Support.Ø Provide response to field operations requests for technical assistance and guidance on application of electrical equipment in compliance with established company standards.Ø Develop Programs/Projects. Create/maintain electrical reliability programs. Types of designs include electrical power load studies, equipment coordination studies/circuit over-current protection, Arc Flash safety studies, grounding systems design and specification, lighting systems design and specification, and communication systems.Ø Design Review. Conduct thorough design reviews and provide work instructions to designers and external design contractors relating to project design packages.Ø Engineering Standards. Produce, monitor, and improve engineering standards, recommended practices, standard designs, and specifications that form part of the company's design library.Ø Facility Assessments. Perform site visits to assess current electrical install base, improve facility documentation, and help prepare scope of work information for maintenance capital improvement projects. QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTSv Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.v 3+ years' experience as a working reliability/design engineer in the refining business, chemicals industry, other process industry, or with an engineering firm serving these industries.
