Electrical Utility Site Safety & Health Specialist
Locations: Throughout Texas (West TX, East TX and NE Texas).
Duration: Longterm w2 contract assignment
Hourly wage, Expenses, Company Vehicle.
Must Have:
3-7 Plus years’ experience in Electrical Utility Construction Safety.
Must have previous high voltage experience in overhead transmission and distribution, and /or substation experience, preferably at least 5 years of experience.
Description:
The Electrical Utility Site Safety & Health Specialist will support the site project management team to deliver project specific Safety & Health programs at the field location primarily throughout Texas and others as deemed necessary by Management. This position will create and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free work site in a heavy construction environment. Monitor Safety & Health activities on field construction projects to verify operations are executed as planned and conducted in a safe manner.
The selected candidate will support projects with our internal and external groups as well as our subcontractor partners and will travel extensively throughout Texas (West TX, East TX and NE Texas) to support our projects with a large utility client. We have listed the Ft. Worth office as the work location (due to it's central location) when not in the field, however, this candidate could live anywhere in the state.
This candidate would be reimbursed on expenses due to the nature of the travel involved and traveling between projects, as this candidate would not be assigned to a single project rather supporting a myriad of projects at a given moment. This candidate would essentially act in a Rover capacity between projects. Travel Expectations: 100%.
Execute Safety & Health deliverables by responding to questions and/or concerns related to site specific safety and health compliance issues in a timely manner.
Maintain compliance with Local, State, and Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
Investigate actions related to work stoppage when circumstances could lead to an immediate danger to life and health on a project.
Report safety and health concerns to the project management team.
Present safety and health information to the Corporate Safety & Health team to ensure that the project safety program is being implemented effectively and required safety compliance has been documented.
Responsible for written and verbal communication with client Safety & Health department regarding any site safety & health issues, coordination of preventative measures, and building working relationships with project staff and each Subcontractor Safety Representative to ensure proper compliance is consistently maintained.
Conduct, monitor, and record project safety & health walk-through assessments with subcontractor safety personnel.
Present all safety assessment findings to appropriate parties.
Manage and document safety activities which require immediate correction and verify that these items are corrected in a timely manner.
Prepare documents to be distributed relative to safety, including assisting Site Management with correspondence to heighten safety awareness, project safety and health goals and ensure a safe and productive work environment is a priority among all project personnel.
Conduct and document training on environmental, safety & health subjects.
Review and complete, as necessary, near miss, property damage, environmental incidents and Accident Investigation reports and recommend countermeasures as appropriate.
Complete daily project Safety & Health reporting requirements and ensure project specific Safety & Health records are in an audit ready state at all times.
Verify project subcontractors maintain all required safety records in an audit ready state and submit all documentation as required to Corporate Safety & Health.
Drive to various project site locations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
3-7 Plus years experience in Electrical Utility Construction Safety.
Must have previous high voltage experience in overhead transmission and distribution, and /or substation experience, preferably at least 5 years of experience.
Certified Utility Safety Professional / CUSP credential, safety professional credential through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, or other equivalent certifying body is a plus.
Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Must be willing to work various schedules at the project site location.
Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges. Valid driver's license required.
OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour.
