Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with a specialist in Mechanical and Electrical services who are recruiting for a Electrician on a permanent basis.
Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Teesside
Hours: Full time
Purpose of the Role
The Electrician will support the Electrical Manager by delivering electrical work secured. The role requires the ability to independently plan and deliver work assigned to the highest quality and within given timeframes, and in accordance with all statutory requirements, company policies and industry good practice.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all Health & Safety and CDM regulations and QHSE company policies at all times - never compromising the customer, other colleagues or yourself
- Wear the correct PPE for each activity
- Follow Safe Systems of Work, adhering to method statements and mitigating the risks appropriately as set out in the risk assessments
- Set out jobs and follow a programme of works (where relevant) using knowledge and experience of undertaking similar works, and working to drawings where relevant
- Follow client on-site procedures to gain access to the works to be undertaken
- Undertake a dynamic ‘Take 5’ risk assessment prior to commencing each job
- Perform and lead on site for electrical works; to include the following areas:
- Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical wiring, electricity-distribution equipment, lighting fixtures and various control systems. Installation, testing & inspection on both domestic and commercial installations
- Fire Equipment Testing including panel, sounders, sensors & emergency lighting
- Must possess particular practical, productive and electrical skills with adequate technical knowledge so as to work on their own proficiently and carry out electrical installation and testing work without immediate supervision.
- Must apply a thorough working knowledge of the Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry, of the current I.E.E. Regulations for Electrical Installations, of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Electricity Supply Regulations, Installations (i.e. Regulations 22-29 inclusive and 31), of any Regulations dealing with Consumers’ installations which may be issued, relevant British Standards and codes of practice, and of the Construction Industry Safety Regulations.
- Must accept responsibility for the completion of jobs and, if required, supervise other operatives.
- Complete the appropriate paperwork, reporting anything that is at risk or dangerous to the office / line manager immediately
- Ensure test results of all inspection, testing and installation are recorded accurately, correctly on the appropriate certificates or reports.
- Perform responsive diagnostic work where relevant with minimal supervision and report on any additional works to be undertaken to the office (including the provision of detailed accurate descriptions/photos/serial numbers for parts and materials, equipment and plant needed to undertake any follow up work)
- Support a customer focused culture, delivering right first time, taking ownership and accountability for the works undertaken
- Undertake repairs and installation works as instructed; including requisitioning the appropriate materials, plant and machinery from JH-ME stores or suppliers where relevant
- Use the CRM to complete and submit clear, accurate job cards and any associated certifications/paperwork for each job undertaken on each day and before leaving the attended site.
- Ensuring all client asset information is collected and recorded in the CRM.
- Ensure that all work carried out is delivered to the highest level of quality in all circumstances
- Perform a post audit job check when leaving site at end of day/work completed, ensuring the site is left clean, tidy and safe
- Minimise waste and adhere to company environmental policies for the safe disposal of hazardous waste
- Act in a professional manner at all times whilst on site, following all site procedures and adhering to all standards and codes of conducts as required.
- Be respectful and positively represent the company
- Keep up to date with changes in all relevant company policies and legislation, to ensure service delivery is maintained to a high standard, complying with the appropriate regulations
- Be on the weekly call out rota for Electricians and attend call outs if required
- Undertake additional hours as may be reasonable and necessary for the effective and efficient performance of their duties and responsibilities
- Ensure all company assets in your possession are well cared for and maintained, and report any damage, accidents, loss, or other problems immediately to your line manager
- Be a responsible driver at all times
- Aid alternative trades in completing work task as required
- Lead on the delivery of jobs and support apprentices and electrician’s mates in their development to ensure they are processing to become competent electricians and report on their progress
- Undertake any training and development deemed necessary you the management team for you to fulfil your duties
- Any other duties deemed relevant for the role
Experience/Qualifications:
- Time Served Apprenticeship - NVQ level 2 & 3 Electrical Installation
- OR NVQ 3 Experienced Worker 2346-03 AND AM2
- At least 3 years’ experience as an electrician (for advanced status)
- Have a thorough working knowledge of the Working Rules for the Electrical Contracting Industry, of the current I.E.E. - ECS Health and Safety Test
- JIB Gold Card
- Level 3 certification in Inspection, Testing and certification or electrical installations C&G 2391
- IOSH/SMSTS/SSSTS or equivalent
- IPAF & PASMA
- Fire Equipment Testing including panel, sounders, sensors & emergency lighting
- Installation, testing & inspection on both domestic and commercial installations.
- Site Safety or CSCS Health and Safety Scheme or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH Legislation and M&E industry regulations
- Computer literate with skills in word, excel, email, internet etc and CRM skills
- Trustworthy and discreet
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage own jobs for the day and across numerous sites
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Good time management skills
- Experience of working at a small to medium sized company
- Used to working to tight deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive approach to work and problem solving
