We know renewable gas, which includes biomethane, hydrogen, and other low-carbon fuels, will play a huge role as we rethink the future of energy, and would love you to join our team to show us all the possibilities. As our Engineer, Renewable Gas, we need your out of the box thinking that will help us advance our low-carbon projects and initiatives.In this role, you will: Create strategic business models and frameworks to establish hydrogen in the gas utility business operations. Develop in-house technical and economic analysis to support business case proposals. Generate concepts that involve unique applications to support development and investment opportunities. Work with our teams to cultivate business plans for various hydrogen related projects. In year 1, you will: Become a plethora of knowledge and a go-to source of information on hydrogen within our renewable gas business. Utilize your expertise to establish yourself as the authority of our hydrogen business development and cultivating strong working relationships across multiple departments. Oversee the day to day implementation of key hydrogen development initiatives. In year 2, you will: Support our teams to champion hydrogen as a long-term low-carbon fuel supply for our customers and partners. Provide leadership to advance hydrogen delivery projects. Engage with our partners and regulators to drive change toward meeting our business goals. What it takes: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. Seven years of recent and relevant experience in an energy sector role. Professional Engineering designation is preferred. Project management courses and certification will be considered an asset. Marketing, business development, or commerce experience and certifications will be considered an asset. Ability to understand and communicate commercial relationships and interpret and integrate complex technical and contract information will be considered an asset. Ability to develop and implement marketing strategies and plans will be considered an asset. Sales and customer account/relationship management skills will be considered an asset. Sound technical knowledge and understanding of energy systems engineering; knowledge of hydrogen and syngas production plant, processes, and operation considered an asset. Sound technical knowledge and understanding of natural gas systems and natural gas supply chain design, operation and functionality. Knowledge of industry and government gas codes, regulations, safety and standards. Knowledge of hydrogen infrastructure conveyance systems and engineering design an asset. Knowledge of asset management, engineering and risk assessment tools an asset. Knowledge of renewable fuels policy, regulation, marketplace and technologies an asset. In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
