Engineering Buyer
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Engineering Buyer to join my client's Purchasing team. In this pivotal role, you will drive procurement activities across the organisation. As a key purchasing team member, your primary responsibilities will include negotiating and placing orders for machined components and various direct and indirect products, while ensuring that suppliers meet delivery and quality standards to align with project timelines.You will also be instrumental in supporting the department with implementing new strategies, policies, and procedures. Furthermore, you will serve as a key stakeholder in the supply chain management process.Key Duties:Support the Purchasing team in procuring all materials from the external supply chain.Ensure that all purchased materials from external suppliers meet quality, delivery, and cost objectives.Identify and convert requirements from MRP, BOMs, and drawings into the receipt of compliant parts into inventory.Request and evaluate quotations.Analyse quotations and select appropriate suppliers.Lead supplier negotiations to achieve cost savings.Coordinate with suppliers to return any defective parts.Conduct technical review meetings with suppliers.Build and maintain strong relationships with the supply base.Develop and manage supply agreements.Assist in the development of key suppliers and maintain supplier KPIs.Drive quality improvements and compliance within the supply base.Issue purchase orders.Expedite orders to ensure timely delivery.Collaborate with Finance to resolve invoice-related queries.Work closely with the Engineering and Design departments on new projects and concepts.Support the Commercial team with cost estimations for new inquiries.Respond to requests from in-house mechanical assembly and precision engineering technicians.Assist the Purchasing team in enhancing purchasing processes to improve business efficiency.Skills/Experience:Essential:Proven experience in purchasing within an engineering or manufacturing environment.Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.Basic understanding of manufacturing processes.Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.Experience using ERP/MRP systems.Awareness of contractual and commercial considerations.Full, clean driving license.Experience in creating risk assessments and designing safety circuits to meet appropriate SIL levels.
