Engineering Group Supervisor- Mechanical (Chennai)

Job Summary:The Mechanical Engineering team is increasing capabilities to support projects in the Manufacturing & Technology sectors such as Semi-Conductor, Data Center, Battery manufacturing and other business units of Bechtel Global. This position is for a EGS Mechanical having minimum 20 years’ experience in detail engineering of Projects with technological experience in Semi-Conductors, data centre and other infrastructure projects. The candidate shall lead a team of engineers and designers and is responsible for providing technical support to the Project Engineering Manager/Project Engineer. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. Candidate should have detail design experience with exposure for plant construction, start-up and operations. Candidate should have worked for execution of Basic/Conceptual Engineering, FEED, EPCM, EPC modes of execution for Indian and International projects. Major Responsibilities: Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work within a discipline on projects of medium size and complexity or assignments in support of a global business unit. Coordinates and monitor day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, designers and drafters. Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion utilizing approved engineering departmental procedures(EDP), codes and standards, Bechtel design guides, appropriate Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAPs) and administrative practices. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to Project Manager/Project Engineer in consultation with specialists. Reviews and approves key engineering drawings, calculations, bid summaries and field change notices. Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates. Conducts performance reviews in accordance with approved procedures and holds career development discussions. Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups. Develop / assist in documentation for progress reporting, tracking mechanism for team deliverables Participate in safety reviews (HAZID, HAZOP/ SIL), as well as reviewing compliance with applicable safety and quality standards Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work. Implement / Capture Lesson Learnt. Active pursue of Value Engineering, design and cost optimization program Ensures that direct reports receive appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. Interaction with Global office / Home office (abroad), execute work on workshare mode Education and Experience Requirements: A recognized degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university, or a professional license in an appropriate discipline from a recognized licensing board, to meet job requirements. Minimum 20+ Years of relevant experience as Lead Engineer. Experience of working in Semiconductor, Data Center, Energy or Power projects will be an additional advantage Required Knowledge and Skills: Plan and conduct independent work within the Execution Unit, using sound judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Ensure project/proposal activities are carried with sound engineering practices and of desired quality within schedule and cost. Work for different Bechtel GBUs, as per the business requirements Coordinate technical issues with other departments on projects including constructability requirements and reviews. Review and develop standard documentation for use on projects Training of Engineers Travel to support activities at construction sites, supplier’s works or in other engineering offices (international travel also). The Mechanical Engineer will work as part of Global Bechtel team and should have basic flair for working with personnel of different nationalities.
