We are extremely excited to be recruiting for an Engineering Manager on behalf of one of our key clients that is a market leader in communication technology used with civil and defence systems.
This role has opened due to the current Engineering Manager retiring in 12 months so there is plenty of time for a handover and to be shown the ropes by someone who has been with the business over 20 years.
The role involves managing a team of 15 engineers across software and electronics, which will increase to 20 over the next 6 to 12 months. You’ll have responsibility for multiple projects in the millions of pounds which will also be increasing. The selected Engineering Manager will play a key role in delivering both objectives.
The company designs and manufactures their products on site, so offers lots of satisfaction in seeing products you managed the development of being built and shipped to a global client base.
The company are open to established Engineering Managers ready for a fresh challenge or Lead/Principal level Engineers that have led teams/projects and would like to officially move into a management role.
The role does require an engineering design background in either electronics or embedded software within a product development environment.
You must be eligible for security clearance for this role.

Key responsibilities for the role of Engineering Manager will include:
- Manage Hardware and Software Design Teams
- Develop a supportive and collaborative working environment
- Agreeing and tracking goals, developing individuals and coaching
- Contribute and support the development of the Company’s technology strategy and product development plan
- Drive strategy and continuous improvements within the team
- Develop departmental skills to provide the resource required to deliver the company strategy
- Develop professional development and expertise within your department
- Recruit staff within approved departmental budget to satisfy short and long-term objectives
- Carry out project reviews to monitor and report financial and schedule progress
- Facilitate and make technical decisions for the project, identifying and trading the various factors involved
- Collaborate with other line managers to achieve the Company’s strategic and tactical objectives
Salary is up to £90,000 plus 25 days annual leave, 10% pension scheme (they contribute 6%), private medical insurance, life assurance 4x salary, continuous training and development, employee reward and recognition scheme, employee assistance programme and BUPA wellbeing services.
