Engineering Manager

Job Description ACG_2230_JOB Our client is a leading digital banking company who is looking for a qualified candidate to join their firm. Guide and mentor Agile teams to ensure adherence to engineering standards, manage sprint backlogs, and oversee engineers’ roles and performance, focusing on code quality, development practices, and testing protocols. Facilitate the achievement of engineering objectives through collaboration with various cross-functional teams, including architects and product managers. Lead the development and execution of the technology roadmap. Contribute to the design and architecture of both current and future frameworks. Balance the need for speed with maintaining quality standards. Mentor engineers to develop a broad skill set beyond their primary expertise and encourage ownership of diverse responsibilities. Manage and resolve technical debt. Stay informed about the latest in development technologies and practices. Oversee the entire development lifecycle and ensure successful team deliverables. Empower the engineering team to operate independently and with discipline. Lead efforts to establish efficient development and delivery processes. Manage career development plans for engineering team m embers in collaboration with HR department. Inspire the team to excel in continuous delivery and innovation. Requirements Technical Expertise: Proficiency with technologies such as Microservices and RESTful APIs. Experience with databases like MySQL and MongoDB. Knowledge of cloud platforms, specifically AWS (including Lambda, S3, API Gateway, CLI, ECS, EKS) or Google Cloud Platform, is essential. Familiarity with formal development methodologies. Experience and Qualifications: Over 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 4 years in a leadership role within a product-focused organization preferred. Demonstrated ability to design and implement new product lines from conception to launch. Proven track record in applying Agile, Scrum, and SDLC practices, including adherence to coding standards, code reviews, source control management, continuous integration, build processes, testing, and operations. Previous management experience in an international finance or technology firm, combined with a strong development background. Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team building, motivation, and mentoring, including guiding engineers in their career development. Experience in producing technical documentation such as specifications, operating instructions, and test plans. Proficiency in managing code and change processes. Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders across different countries with competing priorities. In-depth knowledge of software quality, DevOps practices, and microservices technologies. Experience within the Banking or Financial Services sector is highly desirable. Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and coordinate efforts in a distributed environment. Experience managing teams of 10 or more members. 4+ years of programming experience. Knowledge and experience in software development processes and project management. Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, and Trello. Knowledge and experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines. Ability to lead, manage, and develop team members. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
