MIKEL is currently seeking an Engineering Technician for Code 25 Lab Operations and Maintenance, based at Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport, RI. Operations are conducted throughout three shifts. The work schedule supports dynamic 24/7/365 lab operations, including weekends and holidays. The position requires the ability to lift more than 30 lbs., walk up and down stairwells, and between buildings. The individual is required to hold and maintain a secret clearance.
The applicant will support Code 25 Combat Systems with laboratory upgrades and lab equipment services highlighted within the contracted technical scope. They will work as a member of our Infrastructure Department in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment, supporting all Code 25 combat system projects. The content of work involves performing roving tours of facilities, recording events in an electronic pass down log system, responding to customer needs via electronic work request system, and providing hotel services for lab users (e.g., install electronic auxiliary freshwater systems; militarized and commercial power cables; interface cables; lab foundations; other various militarized and commercial equipment).
The candidate is expected to provide logistical support, inspect/Q&A material, and prepare various materials for shipping and receiving. Candidates should have the ability to react to situations that are not identified within Standard Operating Procedures.
Additionally, the applicant is expected to support Media Center tasking to include:
· Adapt and understand proper protocols/handling instructions when dealing with classified material.
· Become familiar with Base Inventory Tracking System (BITS) intranet database.
· Conduct inventory of Media Center holdings.
· Issue/return media for customer use (Check-In/Check-Out).
· Support three Media Centers located in Code 25 classified enclaves.
· Understand and adhere to Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures
Experience & Skills:
· Currently possess or have the ability to possess an active Secret Clearance.
· Proficient technical skills.
· Familiarity of electrical systems, water-cooling systems, and various interface cables (e.g., Ethernet, coax, and fiber optics).
· Familiarity with various power and basic hand tools.
· Well-versed with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer functions
· Customer service-oriented.
· Analytical ability to define problems, collect data, and take recommended action based upon applicable established guidelines.
· Effective communication, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in a team environment.
