Job Summary
The electrical engineering technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment. Under the direction of the electrical engineer, the engineering technician will work with operations managers, machine operators, and supporting technicians to ensure machinery is operating at full capacity. The engineering technician will execute and lead advanced troubleshooting, replace, and direct the replacement of intricate components, both electrical and mechanical, and maintain equipment to like new condition
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain automatic machines with PLC’s, robotics, hydraulics, and pneumatic controls.
- Able to utilize software to troubleshoot PLC’s HMI’s, robotics, and AC Drives.
- Diagnose and remedy any electrical and mechanical trouble quickly to avoid shutdowns.
- Determine necessary repairs, tear down and reassemble machines.
- Maintain equipment drawings and documentation to reference for timely repairs.
- Identify potential problems before machinery incur additional expense or production downtime.
- Document trouble shooting guides.
- Perform ongoing training of Maintenance team on troubleshooting and support of equipment.
- Assist in installation and qualification of new equipment as necessary.
- Interface between Process/Plant Engineering and Maintenance team on equipment issues.
- Demonstrate flexibility by being on-call as needed to maintain production schedules and remaining on the shift when needed to manage shifting priorities and demands.
- Perform preventative maintenance, 5S, improvement and special projects, as well as perform other assigned tasks as directed by engineering management.
Qualifications
- : Minimum AAS of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology.
- At least 3 years’ experience performing maintenance and repair of machinery, support equipment, and facility with focus on electrical equipment. Troubleshoot and repair existing or potential electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical problems.
- Must be able to work from blueprints, manufacturer specifications, and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to use common precision measurement gages and equipment.
- Technical knowledge of automated production machine equipment and maintenance required.
- Experience with sequence driven equipment and processes .
- Experience with Omron, Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley, and Yaskawa PLCs
- Physically able to pass spirometry exam for test fitting of respiratory equipment

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, walk, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and infrequently lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
