Description: Job Title: Engineering Technician (Materials and Process)Job Code: SAS20221708-88854Job Location: Palm Bay, FLJob Description:Engineering Support Technician qualified to develop and execute specialty material processes and support evaluation and testing of metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials used in Aerospace and Defense programs.Work with Materials & Processes engineers to develop and perform destructive and non-destructive techniques which include material property testing, analytical methods, failure analysis, and surface preparationResponsibilities include interfacing with internal customers to assist in the selection, evaluation, and application of numerous materials and processes relevant to the technical activities of L3HarrisExperience in a hands-on lab environment involving manufacturing process development of structural/non-structural bonding, coating, molding applicationsEssential Functions:Metallurgical and electronic component cross-sectioning and polishing including sample preparation, potting, etching, and microscopy.Adhesive bonding including surface preparation, cleaning, chemical etch, and priming.Drawing interpretation per ASME Working with internal customer teams in a development lab and development type environmentWorking with minimal supervision and high degree of initiativeWorking with and around hazardous chemicalsAssisting in routine laboratory operationsQualifications: Experience with cross-sectioning, polishing, surface preparation, chemical etch, and primingPreferred Additional Skills:Knowledge of machining operationsProficiency maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipmentCompetency in MS Office Suite and proficiency in documenting proceduresWorks well in team environment with good communication skillsAbility to work on multiple projects at one time
