Gorrill Palmer is part of LJB Engineering, a , multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm with six main business lines which include: Transportation, Municipal, Land Development, Water Resources, Buildings Structure Design and Safety/Fall Protection Design and Installation. Our diverse expertise, client base and geographies have enabled LJB to serve clients in all 50 U.S. states and several countries.

We are currently seeking a new or recent graduate (with up to two years of experience) with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering to fill the role of an entry-level design engineer. With our office located in South Portland, Maine, the candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of land development, municipal and/or transportation projects in Maine and throughout New England. You must exhibit a professional attitude, visionary thinking, innovative ideas, analytical problem solving and a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently.

Annual Compensation: $67,000-80,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

ENTRY-LEVEL DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for performing design tasks, engineering analysis, research, documentation of solutions with recommendations and development of construction documents.
  • Develop design and perform engineering calculations.
  • Conduct site visits/inspections, as needed.
  • Develop project quantities.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Assist and collaborate with team members (project engineers, project managers, CAD technicians) as needed for the successful completion of design assignments
  • Other duties as assigned.

ENTRY-LEVEL DESIGN ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s in civil engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
  • 0-2 years of experience.

Qualifications:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering exam .
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) .
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD and/or Micro Station) .
