Your New Role
As an experienced BIM technician, you design electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm and low voltage) for building construction. You prepare daily production of Revit, AutoCAD and/or Bluebeam drawings within the parameters set by others. In addition, you compile technical data from drawings, field notes and/or electronic data as well as coordinate with other internal disciplines and external consultants as required. This role is integral to our team's success and requires the ability to commute to our Minneapolis office.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Project team member on a variety of building and construction types. Work with other project team members to understand scope of work, schedule and budget.
- Draft preliminary layouts from engineering notes, sketches and/or other drawings ensuring company and industry standards and codes are met.
- Model existing buildings based on existing documentation.
- Analyze technical problems; devise new or improved techniques, approaches and alternative solutions; and communicate for approval and implementation.
- Assist in the completion of engineering drawings. Review shop drawings, RFIs and vendor documents as needed.
- Ability to manage production of multiple drawings/projects at the same time. Organize and maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files and project-related information per company policies and procedures.
- Assist with trouble-shooting activities and BIM system set-up and procedures.
- Daily communication of project status with electrical project team members and internal/external disciplines as needed.
- Other duties, responsibilities and activities may be required to ensure client project delivery and company operations.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Associate or technical degree in Design/Drafting Technology, Engineering Technology or related discipline is required.
- 1+ years' experience working as an electrical BIM technician. Candidates with 1 year experience as a student in a technician role will be considered.
- Experienced with design models and drawings. Familiar with industry standards and common systems within buildings.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Revit and AutoCAD. MicroStation is a plus. Ability to maintain skill levels within the changing technology environment.
- Comfortable working in a high-demand, fast-paced environment with excellent attention to detail and meeting details as required. Routinely self-checks own work for completeness and accuracy.
- Organized and able to work on several projects, a multitasker and comfortable working independently and effectively in a team environment to deliver projects.
- Positive and professional attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with co-workers and clients in person or virtually.
- The applicant is a U.S. or U.S. with a valid Green Card.
