From earthquake and seismic engineering to the latest trenchless technology methods, Kleinfelder's Geotechnical Services support the planning, engineering, and construction of complex projects, and our specialists are leading experts in their fields. Kleinfelder is currently seeking an Entry Level Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist to join our team in either Raleigh, Charlotte, or Greensboro, NC!  Step into Your New Role The right candidate for this opportunity will be self-motivated and have 0 - 3 years of geotechnical engineering or geology experience. In this position you will assist the Project Engineers/Project Managers and participate in execution of field investigation and construction oversight. This Geotechnical Engineer/Geologist will also assist with review and compilation of geotechnical laboratory and field-testing results, perform geotechnical analyses and report writing.





 





The responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to the following:





Assist the Project Engineers/Project Managers and participate in field assignments including boring layout and utility clearance, coordination with drilling contractors, supervision of drilling and geotechnical field investigations, logging of borings and test pits.





Inspection and construction oversight of grading, earthwork, retaining structures and foundation installation.





Assist with lab testing assignment, compilation of lab and field testing results.





Perform geotechnical engineering analysis under supervision including soil/rock classification, slope stability analysis, earth retention systems, shallow and deep foundation design, settlement, ground improvement, and geologic hazard evaluation.





Assist the Project Engineers/Managers and prepare geotechnical reports.





The ideal candidate will have:





Positive work attitude and ability to work safely and efficiently when managing multiple tasks





Ability to work independently or with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment





Excellent written and verbal communication skills





Intermediate knowledge of MS Office, Including Word, Excel, and Power Point





An ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers, supervisors, clients, and subcontractors





This position will require 50% travel





Education:





Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geological, or Mining Engineering, or Geology.





MS Geotechnical Engineering/Geology is a plus
