Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to solve environmental problems such as water and air pollution, waste disposal, and public health issues
  • Knowledge of advanced principles of biology, chemistry, and environmental science to protect wildlife and natural resources as well as human life
  • May be required to inspect and evaluate industrial and municipal facilities and programs to assess their compliance with environmental regulations
  • Work with environmental scientists, planners, hazardous waste technicians, engineers, and other specialists to address environmental problems
  • Prepare, review, and revise environmental regulations and recommendation reports and monitor the progress of specific environmental programs

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering or environmental science and technology
  • Experience managing operations, resources, and personnel
  • Knowledge of and experience with environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of analytical and scientific software, compliance software, and graphic imaging and CAD technology
  • 4 years relevant experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate with and direct others
  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Hands-on" experience and technical knowledge of "plant-critical" industrial health and safety standards including, but not limited to, Process Safety Management, Confined Space Entry, Personal Protective Equipment, Fire Safety, Emergency Response, Control of Hazardous Energy, Medical Surveillance, Root cause analysis, and workplace chemical exposure assessments and exposure control methodologies.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, RCRA, DOT, and other applicable regulations

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification
  • DOT Hazardous Material
  • Certification. OSHA 30 hour

Lifting Expectations

  • Frequently lifts, carries, moves, and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted when performing essential job functions.
  • Typically, bends, stoops, crouches, ascends, and descends regularly when performing essential job functions.
  • Constantly observes, assesses, inspects, communicates, detects, conveys, and exchanges information when performing essential job functions.
