Starting Salary: $23.24 per hour
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Science which includes Engineering Technology, Physical Chemistry, Biological Sciences and advanced mathematics or related field (1 year of Air Regulatory experience ).
or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates knowledge of Federal and State regulations, air pollution inspection techniques, and ability to collect and evaluate data

Starting Salary: $25.90 per hour
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering or Science which includes Engineering Technology, Physical Chemistry, Biological Sciences, and advanced mathematics or related field.
3 years of experience in the environmental field which indicates an advanced knowledge of federal and state air pollution regulations, inspection techniques, enforcement procedures, and a basic knowledge of manufacturing processes.
For internal candidates to qualify for promotion from ECS 1 to ECS 2: 18 months experience as an ECS 1 and completion of an internal training program approved by the section manager.
Or a combination of education and experience which demonstrates an advanced knowledge of Federal and State regulations, air pollution inspection techniques, and ability to collect data.

Job Duties (Summary):
Reviews notifications and performs inspections at asbestos abatement, demolition, and renovation sites to determine compliance with NESHAPS ( Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants) and state law. Travels to and gains access to facilities to conduct inspections of pollution sources for compliance with asbestos regulations (e.g., climbs ladders, steps, etc.). Collects samples at asbestos/ demolition/ renovation sites and prepares them for analysis. Reviews and evaluates asbestos surveys. Prepares reports related to those duties.
Prepares Notice of Violations and other enforcement documents to bring entities into compliance. Assists in coordinating asbestos enforcement actions; prepares reports and documentation (e.g., source reports, compliance reports, enforcement action requests, conveys asbestos samples, Provides technical assistance to industry, government, and the public regarding asbestos. Participates in work groups designed to develop policies, procedures, and rules and regulations related to the asbestos program.
Assists in coordinating asbestos complaint response program with various personnel involved in air pollution control and/or public health in resolution of air pollution problems; explains compliance requirements to public; recommends corrective actions (e.g., control measures, contractor list, etc.); arranges public meetings and speaks about asbestos; assists in developing public information program for asbestos; receives and resolves complaints filed by private ; prepares correspondence, notices, schedules, inspections, etc.; provides technical information; serves as liaison between OEPA and local industries.
Performs facility inspections during facility source tests, reviews intent-to-test notices, discusses test conditions with facilities and coordinator, reviews permits and observes source tests, writes test reports, and updates state database.
Investigates open burning complaints and make recommendations in accordance with Ohio open burning regulations and policy. Provides technical assistance to industry, government, and the public regarding open burning.
May direct activity of department staff in asbestos.
Performs special assignments as assigned and directed.
