Environmental Educator - Part-time
The City of Hillsboro Parks & Recreation team is excited to recruit for our Environmental Educator - Instructor II (Part-time) role at Jackson Bottom Wetlands to connect community members to the amazing natural resources in their own backyards. This position works directly with people of all ages and abilities as part of the Jackson Bottom team to connect, inspire, and engage others with nature. As an Environmental Educator, you will deliver nature-based programs in a variety of outdoor settings, at area schools, community events, and other City of Hillsboro facilities. Together we can help community develop their own lens to really see the natural world around them! Jackson Bottom Wetlands is a 635-acre wildlife preserve located within the city limits of Hillsboro. Providing interpretive education on wetlands and wildlife, panoramic views, natural resource management, trails, and recreation, Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a treasure for the entire region. What You'll DoThis position will work with the Jackson Bottom team to execute hands-on outdoor education programs and events with a focus on inclusive, place-based, and STEM learning. The Ideal Candidate Successful Environmental Educators are creative, committed and actively demonstrate inclusion and respect for diverse voices, backgrounds, and ideas. Ideal candidates traditionally have experience working with people of all ages and possess a passion for the natural world. They understand how to adapt curriculum and apply their own style to engage and inspire learners. A Bachelor’s degree in an environmental related field is preferred. The Environmental Educator will report to the Nature Program Supervisor and collaborate with other Jackson Bottom staff.
