Ready to Haul is seeking a hard-working and detail-oriented Foreman / Supervisor for our Erosion Control Division.

The Foreman / Supervisor is a ‘working lead’ who directs crew leaders/members and operates equipment used to safely accomplish quality and production goals. This is an hourly, non-exempt position that will work with indirect supervision.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the landscape construction (not maintenance) and/or erosion control (seeding, straw blowing, matting, filter sock & silt fence) including 2-years as a foreman or supervisor. Must have a clean driver's license. A CDL is a plus but not necessary.

Must be able to travel 3 to 10 days at a time. Company pays for travel and hotel plus Per Diem.

Starting wage for qualified candidate is between $16 and $18 per hour depending on qualifications.

We are located in the Barnesville, Ohio area. We provide erosion control services to the gas & oil industry in western Pennsylvania, central Ohio and northern West Virginia.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise assigned crew leaders & members to ensure tasks are safely and productively completed in a timely manner with a high quality finished product.
  • Report on time, in company uniform and professional appearance to designated location specified by supervisor.
  • Prioritize, schedule and communicate plans and tasks to crew leaders & members.
  • Provide liaison between field and clients to ensure project complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Plan work schedule, determine manpower levels, material quantities, trucking and equipment requirements, and traffic control needs.
  • Monitor work performance and productivity of crew members to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained.
  • Review employee time cards to accurately reflect hours worked.

o Advise superintendents and/or project management:

o Potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.

o Assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.

  • Communicate several times daily with Operations Manager to update job progress.
  • Maintain positive relationship with other departments, as required, to support Project schedule. i.e., food cards, material delivery to job sites.
  • Maintain positive relationship with customers and clients.
  • Promote positive public relations and image.
  • Supervise and encourage crew leaders & members. Promote and demand an environment of mutual respect.
  • Ensure safe working environment.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance and operation of company equipment. Ensure all machines are greased and maintained per equipment maintenance policies.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping at shop, at jobsites, with vehicles, with equipment, and at hotels/motels.
  • Communicate (via phone call or text) to mechanic ASAP (no later than by the end of the day) for any repair or maintenance issues for vehicles and equipment. Driver’s Vehicles Inspection Report must be turned into the mechanic ASAP (next time at the shop).
  • Use assigned company credit cards for work purchases only and turn in all company purchase receipts to the office administrator per company policy.
  • Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
  • Perform additional assignments per Operations Managers direction.
  • Cross train and work in ALL divisions on an as needed basis.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Requirements:

Knowledge of:

  • Safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, project plans, specifications, special provisions and phases needed to complete the project.
  • Equipment and tools needed for the project.
  • Federal, state, and local laws that apply to commercial vehicles.
  • Materials required for the project.

Ability to:

  • Understand, follow, and enforce all policies and procedures in company handbook and otherwise.
  • Operate equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully.
  • Plan ahead.
  • To read site maps and follow project instructions.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of crew members. Create project plans to minimize traffic disruptions and maximize safety for our employees and the traveling public.
  • Work with indirect supervision.
  • Travel out of town with overnight stays as needed; could be up to three weeks at a time.
  • Be a team player.

Qualifications:

  • Tier 1 Crew Leader
  • REQUIRED: Valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside.
  • Must have a DOT Medical card.
  • Must have a driving record that would allow the employee to be covered on the company’s vehicle insurance
  • Tier 2 Crew Leader
  • : Valid driver’s license for the state in which you reside.

  • ALL Crew Leaders
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must obtain and maintain all mandatory training.
  • Must have a reliable mobile communication device.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of Project and or Landscape Management experience.
  • Previous construction supervisory experience.

Required Training:

  • Ability to pass all minimum required training for all divisions. (example: PEC Safeland, Client specific trainings)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Ability to walk and work on uneven terrain
  • Ability to work in a field environment with exposure to dust, inclement/adverse weather conditions, extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
