Environmental Health Officer
Opportunity for a skilled and motivated Environmental Health Officer to join a well-established team on a 12-month contract. You will be joining a supportive team of three other Environmental Health Officers, assisting with the day-to-day workload. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and enthusiastic professional to make a real impact on the community's health and environmental safety. Key Responsibilities: Investigate, report, and action environmental and public health issues in accordance with statutory provisions under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997, Public Health Act 2010, Local Government Act 1993, Food Act 2003, and Contaminated Land Management Act 1997. Handle pollution incidents related to air, land, noise, and water, as well as public health nuisances, contaminated land, animal management, and maintaining healthy living conditions. Provide specialist technical advice on applications related to mechanical ventilation, noise, contaminated lands, acid sulfate soils, and other environmental health concerns. Maintain and update Council’s records and databases relevant to the role. Essential Criteria: Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health or a related field. A sound understanding of environmental health practices, including knowledge of relevant legislation and standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
