Environmental Health Officer (Temporary)\n\nHourly Rate: £55 (Umbrella)\nLocation: Reading, with flexibility for remote work\nJob Type: Temporary (until end of February)We are currently seeking a qualified Environmental Health Officer to join a Private Sector Housing Team at an exciting time. With the recent completion of a consultation aimed at introducing additional and selective licensing schemes, this role is pivotal in enhancing the living standards and building thriving communities through effective regulation of private sector landlords.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs an Environmental Health Officer, you will spend a significant amount of time conducting inspections in various locations across Berkshire. This role offers the flexibility to work from home, depending on the service requirements.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nConduct thorough inspections and investigations across the borough, focusing on housing conditions and compliance with the HMO mandatory licence scheme.\nHandle housing complaints and provide essential assistance and advice to tenants and landlords.\nParticipate in the licensing consultation process and contribute to discussions on tall building fire safety and innovative service delivery in the private rented sector.\nProcess HMO licence applications and collaborate with internal and external partners to administer the scheme and enhance property conditions.\nParticipate in an out-of-hours noise rota, if required.About You\n\nQualifications: Must be registered on the EHRB or the Register of Environmental Health Practitioners.\nSkills: Excellent communication abilities, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, public members, and other agencies.\nExperience: Knowledge of the Private Rented Sector and/or a regulatory environment is essential.\nOther Requirements: Must possess a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.Additional Information\n\nThis role requires spending around 60% of the time on inspections, with a variable weekly schedule based on site issues.\nSome work outside of normal office hours may be required, which will always be arranged in advance.How to Apply\n\nPlease submit your CV detailing your relevant experience or contact Mel Applin @ Reed
