Naranjo Civil Constructors (NCC), a proud subsidiary of Western States Water, brings over four decades of industry expertise to the table, guided by our core values of trust, partnership, and legacy. We believe that creating an optimal working environment for our team members is the key to delivering exceptional results for our clients. At NCC, we are committed to offering fulfilling careers by fostering a thriving culture, providing well-deserved benefits, and supporting continuous growth.
As a leader in civil construction and environmental compliance, NCC is dedicated to responsible building practices that protect natural resources. Our environmental team plays a crucial role in ensuring that stormwater management, erosion control, and regulatory compliance are upheld on every project.
We are seeking a highly motivated Environmental Inspector to join our growing team. This role is essential in monitoring, documenting, and enforcing compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, particularly in stormwater, erosion, and sediment control. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in stormwater compliance, environmental inspection, or construction site monitoring.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct on-site inspections of sediment and erosion control measures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local permits.
Travel daily to multiple construction sites across the Front Range and mountain regions to perform field inspections.
Document observations, findings, and any violations through photographs and written reports.
Review and update Stormwater Management Plans (SWMPs) and Water Control Plans (WCPs) in accordance with applicable regulations.
Collect water samples for laboratory analysis and ensure proper chain-of-custody documentation.
Communicate inspection results and compliance requirements to project managers, contractors, and field crews.
Ensure projects comply with CDPHE's Construction Stormwater Discharge Permits and Construction Dewatering Permits.
Stay current on evolving local, state, and federal environmental regulations related to stormwater and erosion control.
Qualifications:
Education: B.S. or B.A. in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Skills:
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and regulatory documents.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Other Requirements:
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.
Valid driver's license with a clean (or minimal violations) motor vehicle record (MVR).
Comfortable with daily travel to project sites, sometimes in remote or mountainous areas.
Skills & Certifications:
Stormwater management certifications, such as CPESC (Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control) or CESSWI (Certified Erosion, Sediment, and Stormwater Inspector).
Understanding of CDPHE stormwater and dewatering permits.
Experience with water sampling and laboratory analysis.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk, stand, and hike over uneven terrain for extended periods.
Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Compensation:
Competitive salary range of $50,000 - $75,000+ per year, based on experience, certifications, and qualifications. Higher compensation may be offered for highly experienced candidates with advanced stormwater compliance expertise (e.g., CPESC, CESSWI certifications).
Benefits:
Competitive compensation based on experience.
Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
401(K) retirement plan, paid time off (PTO), and paid holidays.
Opportunities for professional development, including training in stormwater compliance and environmental management.
Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.
Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement may be provided.
Application:
We are seeking local candidates in Colorado for this role, as it requires regular on-site presence at job sites across the Front Range (Northern Colorado, Denver Metro, Colorado Springs) and into the mountains.
While this position is not remote, there may be opportunities for limited remote work when field visits are not required, particularly for candidates who live farther from our primary office in Garden City, CO. However, daily travel to construction sites is a key part of this role, and applicants must be willing to drive frequently.
If you have experience in stormwater compliance, environmental inspection, or construction site monitoring, we encourage you to apply!
