Commonwealth Engineers is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join our award-winning engineering design and consulting firm. The candidate must be a self-starter willing to grow with our company. Applicant must be adaptable and willing to work in a performance and deadline-driven environment and a team setting. Training will be made available for specific duties.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit, and manage permit applications
  • Prepare environmental reports and assessments as required by funding agencies
  • Perform environmental resource planning including historic/architectural resources, wetlands, surface waters, groundwater, floodway and floodplain, plants and animals, soils, farmland impacts
  • Evaluate sites for potential wetland/stream mitigation
  • Coordination with sub-consultants and of findings in project technical reports
  • Prepare technical reports, memorandums, and graphics
  • Use of GIS and online mapping to show potential impacts and include technical reports
  • Effectively communicate environmental findings and permitting needs
  • Utility Coordination
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Public Affairs
  • Experience working with Local, State, and/or Federal Environmental/Regulatory Agencies ( but not required)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in GIS Database systems ( but not required)
  • Assertive interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in team environments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize
