Job Title: Field Estimator 1 (Distribution)
Immediate W2 contract position available in Jonesboro, GA (16 miles south of Atlanta).
Estimated Duration: 2 years
Desired Qualifications:
A Distribution Field Estimator is a critical role in the energy and utility industry responsible for assessing field conditions and gathering data to estimate the cost and feasibility of projects related to electrical power distribution systems.
This position involves conducting on-site inspections, collaborating with engineering teams, and providing accurate estimates for distribution projects.
Responsibilities:
Field Inspections: Conduct site visits to assess the current conditions of electrical distribution systems, including poles, wires, transformers, and related equipment.
Data Collection:
Gather detailed information and measurements about the existing infrastructure, such as equipment specifications, materials, and dimensions.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of field observations and measurements.
Create detailed reports and sketches of distribution system components.
Cost Estimation:
Collaborate with engineers and project managers to estimate the cost of repair, maintenance, upgrades, or new installations based on field data and project requirements.
Material and Labor Assessment:
Determine the quantities of materials and labor hours required for distribution projects.
Obtain pricing information for materials from suppliers.
Budget Development:
Contribute to the creation of project budgets by providing accurate cost estimates.
Ensure that budgets align with project goals and financial constraints.
Vendor Coordination:
Work with vendors and suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and equipment needed for distribution projects.
Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure that field inspections and estimations adhere to safety protocols, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Data Analysis:
Analyze field data and cost estimates to identify areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
Reporting:
Generate detailed reports and cost analysis summaries to communicate findings and recommendations to project stakeholders.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
Some positions may prefer candidates with an associate degree or relevant coursework in electrical engineering technology or a related field.
Experience:
Entry-level positions may not require prior experience, but relevant experience in field inspections, electrical systems, or construction is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Basic knowledge of electrical distribution systems, field inspection techniques, and construction processes.
Familiarity with measurement tools and equipment.
Math Skills:
Strong mathematical and analytical skills are essential for accurately estimating project costs and quantities.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in using software tools for data collection, reporting, and basic cost estimation.
Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) may be advantageous.
Communication:
Effective communication skills to interact with project teams, vendors, and suppliers, as well as to present field inspection findings and cost estimates.
Safety Awareness:
A commitment to safety protocols and procedures in electrical distribution and field work.
