The Estimator will work closely with the team to ensure bids are sent out in a quick and effective manner and participates in all aspects of the bid process, including: review of plans and specs, soliciting and negotiating prices with subcontractors/suppliers, quantity take-off, pricing, scoping, etc. This role is highly collaborative and will work closely with internal team members as well as external suppliers, owners, architects and engineers. We are looking for an individual who is efficient and comfortable being a member of a team while also being a go-getter. The ideal candidate for this job is resourceful, a good problem solver, and is very organized!

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Estimating support for Projects
  • Performs quantity take-offs
  • Assists in the pricing and bidding of construction projects
  • Communicates with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements, and documents these clarifications
  • Conducts reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities
  • Actively participates in the internal estimate review process
  • Assists with final assembly of estimate for presentation
  • After the bid, collects and organizes all bid information for future reference
  • Aids field operations with change order pricing if needed
  • Subcontractor analysis for Bids
  • Participates in hard bid/estimating and GMP budgeting activities by soliciting subcontractor support and evaluating bids
  • Maintain and distribute and work with the bid schedule
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communication with subcontractors
  • Complete bid forms
  • Prepare and organize job binders
  • Track all bids and ensure accuracy
  • Maintain communication between management and bidding department

Requirements

Skills:

  • Must be proficient in HVAC, Plumbing, and Piping
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook)
  • Builds and maintains relationships with clients
  • Proficient in Bluebeam
  • Proficient with OST (On Screen Takeoff) software
  • Keeps current with latest estimating technology and techniques
  • Be able to prioritize, multi-task, and make deadlines
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Proactive with managing project schedule, updating database, preparing project documents
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Willingness to learn; seeks and responds to feedback
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Positive, cooperative attitude; wants to see project(s) and company succeed
  • High level of organization
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
